Dhaliwal just said on D&D that Lankinens agent called the Canucks earlier in the offseason to ask if they wanted to sign his client. The Canucks said no we’re good, and signed Patera. Kinda funny now Patera is gone and Lankinen is here.

Unfortunate as he seemed pretty solid in limited sample size but would have been 3rd string in Abby with everyone healthy.

This actually is kinda perfect. Patera was disappointing I thought in pre-season and camp and with Ty Young seemingly sticking around at least for the moment they had too many goaltenders so they clear a contract slot and a logjam positionally.

This is good news. As soon as we signed Lankinen it created a logjam in Abby. Ty Young also performed well and he should be looking to make the jump this year.
Patera likely wouldn’t have seen NHL action barring catastrophe
