Baty has loads of potential but I think he was pressing too much. Vientos lost the 3B job on spring but worked hard to get back & has really matured as a hitter as he is more patient & disciplined. Now he’s mashing. I think Baty will do the same but where he plays with Vientos solidifying himself at 3rd is the problem.
McClean is an interesting 2-way player. He has monster power as a hitter but strikes out a lot & is a feast or famine type of hitter. He is talented as a pitcher too. He has a live arm & electric fastball. The questions surrounding him are control issues & secondary pitches. Looks like he has a decent slider which should allow him to at the very least be a reliver but if he can continue to develop he could be a starter. Though raw he has some exciting potential.
Brandon Sproat our 2nd Rounder last year is as ending through the minors & is already at AA. He has a filthy pitching arsenal & could fast track it to the majors. While our hitting prospects garner the most attention we have a nice mix of exciting pitching prospects. Christian Scott, Blade Tidwell, Mike Vasil & Dom Hamel are some of the top pitching prospects but we can add Sproat & McClean to that mix.
We have a bright future! I hope that some of these young hitters & pitchers can make it to the majors & help contribute to the Mets soon. Let’s Go Mets!
Stop showing Baty can’t do it in the majors
Brett Baty was up and he did nothing. Nothing to get excited about.
