Obviously doesn’t make sense to grab Bear, given his cap and our current situation. But man I wish he worked out here, and it would have been nice to have his puckmoving (assuming he was healthy) in our bottom pairing.

I believe Benning absolutely ruined the development path of DiPietro. First with that emergency call up game where we just thrown him out there behind a joke of a blueline against the high power Sharks where he got lit up for 7 goals in his unexpected debut. All because he failed to acquire a third goalie with both Markstrom and Demko got injured/sick.
Then with the stupid COVID division year where he would have a young prospect sitting on the Taxi Squad instead of playing games because he failed to find a third goalie to just sit in the press box. This could’ve easily been addressed if he re-signed Domingue at league minimum to be the taxi squad goalie. It led him to not being in any game action since March 2020 until October 2021.
I don’t know if DiPietro would’ve panned out but this kind of development path can ruin people’s careers.
