  1. While it's fine to prefer playing with a specific teammate, it's better to work on and possess team chemistry. As you noted, it's impossible to guarantee a pairing because of injuries, line changes, and trades. Dunn plays well with Larsson and I'm sure Bylsma is taking this into account. That said, I like that Bylsma is pushing for flexibility from the team. It isn't good for Dunn's game, physically or mentally, to stagnate because he relies so heavily on Larsson. Dunn is a good hockey player and was a big part of the St. Louis Blue's Stanley Cup success. He needs to regain his confidence, which isn't going to happen if he stays within his Larsson-sized comfort zone.

Don't get me wrong – I think line chemistry and consistency is incredibly important. But I also think it's important that the Kraken are flexible and can turn an injury into an opportunity. Experimenting with other teammates is going to make the Kraken more well-rounded. This is just another example of trying to find balance between chemistry and flexibility. I have to think that Bylsma is just as flexible as he's asking players to be and will rethink lines if he believes chemistry is getting better performance than flexibility. Time will tell.
