COULD A HOMECOMING SAVE THE MONTREAL CANADIEN’S SEASON? #nhl #montrealcanadiens #laine #habs #mtl

After Montreal suffered injuries to David Reinbacher and Patrick Laine, would a homecoming with either Mike Hoffman or Max Pacioretty help salvage their 2024-25 season?
Patrik Laine’s fresh start with the Montreal Canadiens has been put on hold after suffering an unfortunate knee injury during Saturday’s preseason game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

The injury, which occurred after a knee-on-knee collision with Cedric Pare, has been heavily criticized by hockey insiders and former players.

Those critiques touched on everything ranging from the unnecessary physicality shown by Pare on the action as well as a taxing preseason schedule full of meaningless games.

In any case, Laine’s injury is expected to sideline the star winger for months, as he popped up at practice on Monday on crutches, and is still waiting for an official diagnosis from the team.

Canadiens head coach Martin St. Louis spoke on Monday about the emotional toll of Laine’s injury

The Habs coach noted the strides Laine had made in integrating with the team following his struggles playing for the Columbus Blue Jackets last season before requesting a trade.

“The No. 1 job we had to do with Patty is make him excited to come to the rink, and he was,” St. Louis said. “And it’s not just my job, it’s the group, you know?

“What I’m really proud about the group–and I know, obviously there’s a show called “The Rebuild”–when you’re building a house, the house could look really nice, but is it a home? And I feel like seeing Patty coming in like that makes me feel like we’re building a home, not just a house.

  1. dude its year 4 of a rebuild.i dont expect the habs to win.
nor do i want them to.
only things i want is mcqueen or mckenna
hutson has 1 point in the preseason and the habs are 0/32 with him on the pp.
dont listen to the media hype, they are wrong.
    gohabsgo

  2. A complete waste of time to even consider it !!! getting these 2 players (Hoffman (Mr. turnover) and Pac would show they are panicking. Are we in a desperate situation to salvage a year? are we contenders ? making a short term move would set us back for the longterm. not worth it

  3. MTL is going nowhere unless they keep looking for real competent coaching.
IDC if they want to operate with stupidity feeling they want Marty because they LIKE HIM ok fine then get some other people to actually coach the SYSTEMS and zone play positioning.
If I had a chalk board I could show EVERY last mistake the Habs are doing in ALL zones 5 on 5 and special teams.
The PK is not the worst problem they simply don't have good enough players for the PK but all the rest is a complete mess of incompetence.
I am not talking about players simply not being good enough I am talking about a lack of hockey IQ and nobody is helping them to figure it out.
In 2….TWO years Marty or whomever have done ONE thing to the PP everyone knows what it is the long drop pas and I bet MOST people feel it is a stupid idea to do it EVERY single time so why no changes?
