I am ok with this. Others showed up better prepared.

Probably to fit under the cap tbh, everyone who doesn’t need waivers will likely get cut and back up a day later.

No need to read anything into it

  2. jadenspan

probably a cap move… but honestly he didn’t look that good in pre season.

  3. Damien_Karras_

Kapanen outplayed him. Could also be a cap move

  4. bcgrappler

Think he would be fine with some laval time.

Kapanen may have stolen his spot with his size, skill and relentlessness.

Kid was a suprise and gets in the play much better then Roy or Beck.

I know he didn’t have a good camp but he was good enough last year Imo to get a spot on the team to start. Ohwell he’ll be up soon enough I imagine

  6. Matiabcx

Mesar cooking with roy and back? I wanna watch laval games too now

  7. Zestyclose-Cricket82

It’s More a roster management move then anything else. He will be back shortly

  8. Probably part of the paper moves to get to the cap ceiling, need to send 2 million down to Laval, put Laine and Price on LTIR and then call them back up.

Anyone waiver exempt. Guhle, Struble, Hutson, Xhekaj, Roy, Slafkovsky.

there’s no reason to keep 14 forwards up, it was either him or heineman, and heineman clearly played better and gave more effort

Roy’s spot wasn’t guaranteed contrary to many fans beliefs, it never is when you’re waiver exempt

It’s not a cap move. He’s not on the ice in Brossard this morning. None of those guys sent down are.

If it’s not a cap move I don’t hate it. Really thought he would take a step this camp but just like Mailloux it wasn’t there much. Maybe let him cook some more in Laval and he’ll be ready during the year. Only has 1 pro season of experience after all.

Nothing wrong with Roy getting more time in the AHL

  13. ChickenLynx2

Not surprised. But he has the talent to be a top 9 player.

It looks like Roy, Engstrom, Mailloux & Dobes have all been sent down.

    Montreal’s 23-man roster, 14F, 7D, 2G:

F: Suzuki, Caufield, Slafkovsky, Dach, Newhook, Armia, Anderson, Gallagher, Evans, Dvorak, Kapanen, ABB, Pezzetta and Heineman

D: Matheson, Guhle, Hutson, Savard, Xhekaj, Struble & Barron

    G: Montembeault, Primeau

    IR: Laine, RHP, Reinbacher
    LTIR: Price

    That’s it. Let’s go!
