The Dallas Stars Opening Night roster is set! But will Wyatt Johnston and Mavrik Bourque be available on Thursday night in Nashville. On today’s episode of Locked On Stars, Joey examines the final roster moves made by the Dallas Stars over the weekend ahead of opening night in just a few days. Stars highly touted prospect Lian Bichsel was loaned to back to the AHL with the Texas Stars where he will begin the season along with Matej Blumel and Arttu Hyru. Joey believes Bichsel will not be in the AHL very long after what we saw from him in the preseason. Other players loaned to Texas include Kole Lind, Kyle Capobianco, Emilio Pettersson and a few more after clearing waivers. Joey shares his thoughts on why Oscar Back won the 13th forward battle and the options Pete DeBoer will have on the fourth line this season. Later in the episode, we dissect the minute distribution of each defensemen including Miro Heiskanen, Thomas Harley, Matt Dumba, and Ilya Lybushikin. Will Dumba return to playing a consistent 20-22 minutes a game at a high level and can Lybushkin average higher than the 17 minutes he played the last three seasons. In the final segment Joey states that Wyatt Johnston will become a superstar this season and will garner national attention. That’s what he is most looking forward to this season, what about you?

I’m ready for all the young guys to take over and run with it. If all our young talent was on fire at once, we’d be unstoppable. Robertson can take over a game. Hintz can take over a game. Johnston can take over a game. I’m just saying. Robertson, Hintz, Johnston, heiskanen, Stankoven, Borque, Harley… plus the guys soon to come up? I mean… I just feel really good about this team. I felt this good last year too, and we went far but. I just feel it’s bound to happen. We’re too good. Young talent. Veterans. Goaltending. We’ve got it all. We just need for all our stuff to fall in line and stay there. Instead of going up and down. Just get hot, and stay hot. Full throttle. No let up. Foot on neck mentality. As good as we were last year. It’s crazy to think that we can be better. But it’s true. 30 years as a Stars fan. Lots of ups and downs. This is as good as I’ve felt being a fan and this confident, since the late 90s. Just feels right to me. So pumped! Can you tell? lol Go Stars!

So who is this Bill Price clown, the editor-in-chief, from league's website? He's the only one, out of all their experts for the season predictions, who has the Stars missing the playoffs.
I'm excited to watch the Stars WITHOUT Suter. I'd guess we would have had at least one Cup Finals appearance if he'd been in the press box during the playoffs the past 2 seasons. I kept hoping for the announcement that his position was being redefined. Ryan, we want you to be more of a Stay-at-home defenseman. Stay…at your house.
I'm kinda interested in Lundqvist. Something that pleasant European fellow you had on early in the summer, said something that has stayed with me a bit over summer.
He compared to some similar type of defenceman with similar stats at that stage of their career who turned out really well (can't remember names precisely).
He has a lot of upside and defenceman can take time. Did he marinate in the AHL?
I appreciate your quick abstract on robo. I like how you’ve targeted this channel into mostly being positive on things, however I personally would like you to go into more detail-in a constructive way about your concerns. I’m sticking with robo here just because it is an easy example, but for instance, you speak about his style of play, and not liking it. I assume you mean offense first mindset, which Pavelski was pretty similar on. I actually thought these last two years Robo has grown his defensive and physical game. I feel like I see robo’s development taking a Jamie Benn path where he can be that assertive force, and be more sound defensively too while still having a good shot. I do wish he had a better front of the net presence as opposed to a wing shooter, but you do need wing shooters. I feel like Dallas’s biggest shortcoming right now is offensive front of net presence. We will see how they try to adjust to that (and I think if robo can be pushed into that role, and letting Wyatt be the wing shooter would be HUGE).
