Leafs just took away the captaincy from him and handed it to Matthews

As a die hard Maple Leafs fan, I’ll never forget Tavares’s final season as Maple Leafs captain.
Throughout his 5 seasons as Captain, he lead by example, rallied the troops and gave it his all every night! What a sad way to spend the majority of a 7 year $77 Million with 5 first round exits and only one series win in 2023. Hopefully with the final year coming up, this will be the year that Tavares will get what he’s searching for (Lord Stanley)
I would feel so bad if Tavares ends up being one of a handful of first overall picks to never win a Stanley Cup. I’m sure with Craig Berube behind the bench this season, all of that can change!
John Tavares has had a legendary career so far and I think he will be a Hockey Hall of Famer for sure!
