The NHL season is upon us! In the first game of opening day we had the Seattle Kraken vs St Louis Blues and on day one, Jessica Campbell behind the bench was already making history! Hired by the Seattle Kraken and Dan Bylsma who tapped her shoulder to come up to the NHL level, she now has officially made NHL history as the first female assistant coach! She’s coming off 2 consecutive Calder Cup appearances with the Coachella Valley Firebirds as the assistant coach. She’s a 2 time medalist at the Women’s Worlds u18 with Gold and Silver as well as a silver medalist at the 2015 World Championships. She’s ran her own business as a skating coach, actually coached guys like Luke Schenn, Shea Weber and Matt Barzel among others so, she’s earned this! So, how’d her debut go? Well, pretty damn well early on as the Kraken came out firing peppering BInnington early. However, after a reversed goal due to offside and a scrum near the Blues bench, momentum shifted hard. The Blues came alive, Kyrou showed his dominance and they came back to tie this game and then take the lead in an explosive second period.
