Let’s talk about game one – Montreal Canadiens vs the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was a tough game, lots of opportunities but both goalies stood on their freaking heads. I think one the funniest things was the interaction between Max Domi and David Savard.

Happy they won, Happy for Monty and great entertainment for a 1 goal game.
Both teams coordination is a work in progress (expected for game #1) , best example is puck bouncing on sticks instead of sticking to them on reception.
We'll get a better idea about the team in a few weeks.
Fringe/New lineup players Barron, Hutson, Xhekaj, Heineman, Barré-Boulet we're ok , could've been better and worst.
My only concern is Kapanen, young players need to play , here or Europe.
Seemed like Canadiens scored a goal, then killed the rest of the game off. They went into a shell, and defended. Toronto has a such a great power play, I'm shocked at how well Montreal handled it.
In my opinion everybody was good, the only player I didn't like was Emil heineman

Ya certainly a nail biter, kind of felt like a playoff game if I can say that on the first game of the year… LOL!! I was nice to see Patrick Laine get the reception he did and it would have been nice to see if he could have been a difference maker in some of those powerplays especially the 1:31 five on three. All around good game but the Habs were lucky because it could have easily been a 2-1 or 3-1 game for TO. Lets see what they muster up against the big bad Bruins tonight. I think Boston is in a decline stage after their big high of a few years. Getting rid of Ulmark was not a wise decision. Speaking of goalies, I wish the Habs organization would keep Dobes in the linup. This guy is solid good, and he gives me that warm and fuzzy Price/Roy vibe.
Overall great effort, what particularly stood out was the over team defense, most shots were the beyond the circle and the Habs were forcing the Leafs further and further out. They took away the inside game. Lane Hutson is going to be a superstar, it is only a matter on time until he nets one off a deke. 4 star David Savard, he block Zamboni if he has to.
Hutson needs to be on the first PP.

Josh Anderson needs to bounce back this year to justify his salary, glad he played well, but we need more from him, if he could complete the 2nd line with Dach and Newhook while Laine gets better, it would be awesome!
