wait Johansson and Seider? No Holl? 👀👀👀

Ugh, this is how you torpedo your prospects – the necessity of potentially putting Ed with offhand Gus does not bode well for his early season development. But, OTOH, there is literally no other viable partner for him that would result in even a suggestion of a 3rd pair.

The cumulative effect of bad rosters is brutal…

I know Lalonde loves that third line, but can we please call up Kasper and have him replace Fischer on it. Not that I don’t like Fischer, but Kasper would bring so much more offense. Slide Fischer down to the fourth line.

Holy shit, they’re going to give johansson a chance.

I like the lines. Motte-Veleno-Bergers started looking good towards the end of the game. They can at least play with a lot of speed. Game one is over so the rust is off now lets see what happens.

Just start lyon, he almost saved our season last year.

Debrincat Larkin Kane pisses me off so much. First line last game was electric to end the year and we keep going away from it for no reason.

Further clarification from Ansar on the D pairs:

“Those aren’t necessarily the D-pairs for tomorrow. They’re using multiple combinations in practice.”

Glad they waited one day to panic.

Yeah, looking at forwards. Let’s break up our best offensive line from last night, and (checks notes) nothing else… really?!

  11. oceanic8675

I cannot tell you exactly why, but I’m so tempted to nickname Johansson Johannes Brahms.

Also hot take I think the nickname game in hockey is kinda weak 🫣.

Sick of this third line. Lot of good their defensiveness did us yesterday.

  13. OkEstablishment5706

OH THANK GOD!!! This should fix everything! /s

    It’s a roster construction problem.

Everyone on defense besides Seider is a situational or bottom pair defensemen. Ed’s a rookie and will take time to grow into a top role.

We have one good line and three 3rd lines.

    We have 3 backup goalies

Why split the Raymond line they were fire

  16. After one game this is my take… downvote away…

    I love the Red Wings.

    Always have. Will continue.

  17. Monkey10pts

That 3rd pairing is a -2 and the puck hasn’t even dropped yet.

  18. Why can’t we just swap Fischer/Berggren?

What do we expect from the guy on the fourth line?

  19. Silver-Bandicoot-969

Chiarrot and maata having a mid off

  20. MiStrong

I’m sorry this lineup is garbage , not once has Lalonde put out a lineup that I said “you know what, that’s the best combo of players we could have” and why is Ed bottom pair?

  21. Caboose119z

That’s what I’ve been arguing for the top 6 all off-season.

I don’t care what the pairs are, until we have another top 4 D, preferably right shot, we’re gonna get caved when Seider isn’t on the ice. Please just go get Rasmus Andersson.

  22. I have no idea what the Rasmussen-Copp-Fischer line accomplished to stay together like that.

And just endlessly moving Kane and Raymond around is just deck chairs on the Titanic.

  23. Vast_Sandwich_5245

Don’t love the first line tbh, puts too much defensive responsibility on Larkin.

  24. strayadult

The exact same type of line blender that had Raymond-Larkin-Bertuzzi split up to try and give the bottom 9 a push to literally do anything. Which worked for a month when Bert and Suter were together. Then they cooled down and the lines were blended again.

There’s just very little identity here without some bigger moves or big call-ups.

  25. TheAnalogKid18

I actually really like the D pairings.

  26. FDTFACTTWNY

I’m by no means cheering that petry got hurt. In a perfect world we would have a coach that recognized how bad he is and benched him.

But I’m not going to lie to myself and not say that him getting hurt gives us the best chance to win. Im hopeful he has a speedy recovery and during that recovery our coach wakes tf up.

  27. Late_Brush4518

But dont touch that third line! Its our match up line, its our identirt line! Too bad that our identity was shit.

  28. Extreme-Corner4515

This team needs a legitimate 2C so bad. I don’t mind shifting around the top 6 wingers if you have a good 2C.

Ras-Copp-Fisch need to be permanent 4th line with limited use.

Try out the kids on the 3rd line. Trade Veleno and Bergers. Fire Motte into the sun? idk

D is a mess. Can’t believe they gave Gus 4 mil
