I want Robby to succeed but his play style is so mystifying to me. He initiates contact and tries to engage physically but he can’t compete. Nothing wrong with being an undersized player but feels like his game should be based on being shifty / elusive – not absorbing contact.

Nicky Bobby has looked great despite not scoring yet; working hard every shift, playing well defensively for the most part, drawing penalties, and setting up goals for others – I don’t think we improve by sitting him for anyone else or trading him at this point

Right now he’s playing hard like Kase did but with a better shot. There are some plays where I still feel like he’s extending himself in a way that leaves him open to get injured. Hope that he can learn better positioning for his aggressive style.

I mean the guy is zeros across the board yet still a +1.
His biggest criticism has been his defensive play so statistically he’s been a net positive. Could be the goalie factor, but he hasn’t been terrible.
At the end of the day he needs to put up points to stay in the lineup but he still has lots of runway to do that. Glad to see him clean up the other parts of his game

Then why is he only averaging 12:14 a game? Not much more than last year despite doing everything right during training camp and continuing in the early part of the season. I would like to see he get around 15+ mins a game for a decent stretch and see if he can put up some points.

Is Jesse Blake a reporter that asks players and coaches questions after the game now?

Would be good if leafs change the pp units and get Robertson on 2 balanced pp units
Matthews-marner-tavares-rielly-timmins
Nylander-robertson-tavares-domi-oel
That pp unit 2 would be rough to handle on cycle and battles along the boards. I think Timmons can do some damage from the point

Slightly unrelated, but shoutout to the SDPN boys for getting their press credentials.

Giving Nicky Bobby the credit he is due.
I was critical of his attitude, but he had mentioned maturing, and we see it on the ice. Hustling everywhere, trying to make plays for himself and for others.
He has been dynamic and a team player. Love to see it.

That’s great. He has had some up and downs, but after the trade request his play has left very little to be questioned. While I’m a fan of a rival team, I love it when a young guy works his tail off and basically forces himself into the line up.
Good on him!

Confidence was a major issue. Last coach had him on such a rope the kid had mo chance. Finally a proper look.
