Nebraska’s overlooked storylines: The run defense and … Dylan Raiola?

The Nebraska football team is barrelling toward a Big Noon Kickoff meeting with Indiana. It’s been more than 10 days since the Huskers played, and a few items are slipping under the radar. Would you believe that one of them involves the freshman quarterback, Dylan Raiola?

Connor and Mitch are here on Wednesday to talk about Raiola and the Huskers’ rush defense, which – if you had not heard – has yet to allow a touchdown. We’ve got a stat about the rush defense that you want to hear. And we talk about Raiola’s poise and leadership abilities, which should be getting more attention.

Also, Raiola awoke his coach on Monday morning at the office. How did that go down? It’s kind of confusing. A squirrel knocked out power to parts of Lincoln on Tuesday. How? And Nebraska coordinators Tony White and Marcus Satterfield offered their thoughts about the upcoming big contest. Join us.

  1. Indiana fan here, looking to see what the Nebraska media thinks of their team. I do think IU runs more man coverage this week to better slow the Nebraska passing game.

  2. Do you think the bye week gave the Huskers enough time to address/fix some of the issues on special teams?

  3. My thought is that he probably was laying on the floor. While some would rather sleep on the couch, some would rather the floor (especially if you are taller than the couch).

  4. Not Confident with our Offense. Marcus Satterfield is a mid OC. Our Defense is locked in and great. But our Offense is very inconsistent and I’m not confident in them this game. I don’t think Satterfield is what this team needs at OC.

  5. Indiana has never trailed this season, so I would guess that Nebraska fans will get a chance to see what their QB can when behind.
Indiana has also scored 41 or more points in 5 straight games (including 3 Big Ten games). I just don't see how Nebraska is going to be able to keep up?

I also don't think it's all that impressive that the Nebraska QB has been good as a freshman. You care whether your QB has been good vs the other team. That's the only metric that matters. Based on QBR, Indiana's Rourke is #1 and Nebraska's Raiola is #42.

I don't think this is going to be a close game.

  6. I'll bet you don't see any live squirrels on any campus in the SEC. Bones and hides maybe, but no live ones.

  7. Our $8 million per year head Coach is sleeping on the floor in his office?! That's Grit right there, baby! "Forget the couch, I wanna feel the hard floor." That's what I need from my head ball coach
