The New York Rangers Healthy Scratched Matt Rempe AGAIN…

Matt Rempe ended up being a star in the media for the New York Rangers after bringing his unique size and talent to the NHL. Matt has contributed fairly well for a guy of his age and rawness to his game. Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has decided to scratch Rempe 2 out of 3 games so far this season.

  1. The current 4th line has been great, Rempe doesn’t really generate offense more than anyone on that line. If the rangers get into a slump he’s a good guy to throw in for the energy.

  2. Rempe is not the clear cut choice for the spot that's why , he's not offensive minded or a great skater . I like the kid but he doesn't just get a spot because the fans like him he's gotta show some dynamics on ice beyond a magnet for bad calls.

  3. It’s October. If you want to develop players and give them playing time, now is the time to do it. There’s no point in scratching him. Should be mixed into the 3rd and 4th lines with edstrom. Vesey is okay, but doesn’t really offer anything. Brodzinsky is an AHL guy. If it was December and coach wasn’t comfortable with what he had I would understand. But it’s October.

  4. You can't waste a roster spot on a guy that plays less than 4 minutes in a very limited role. I know brodz has not played a ton, but when he's out there it's more of a complete game. I like Rempe and he'll be a good call up but we need a full team out there.

  5. Right now Rangers have one guy too many & it will be two when Vesey comes back. So Rempe needs playing time, in AHL if he's just going to sit. The other alternative is to rotate Rempe, Edstrom & Brodzinski from game to game which doesn't seem likely.

  6. I get remps isn't fully developed. He's under a developmental contract. But he needs ice time to devolope. Why sign him if you're not going to use him? Let him go where he's going to be able to play and stop wasting his time. He's still very young and should be getting ice time under his belt one way or another

  7. Be patient. Takes time.

Rempe is working hard. He'll get there.

Laviolette is not helping his development, right now. October is the time to play and roll Edstrom & Rempe….12-15 minutes a game; allowing them to get crucial experience against different types of teams / opponents.

Doing so, would make a world of difference for both of these kids.

As well as evaluating what this team will need, going into the trade deadline and post-season.

Because they absolutely will need to get tougher, nastier, more physical and faster: to compete through out the season and through the post-season.

Once you get Edstrom and Rempe rolling with consistent shifts: they get so much better ( in their all zones game) and their speed cranks up, significantly.

And their long reach, and long sticks: do create a problem for opponents; in all zones.

If you're willing to take your growing pains lumps: with Kakko, Lafrenière…etc….

You have to take your growing pains lumps, with role players like Rempe and Edstrom.

The Rempe Haters out there: are the same type of people that would have wrote-off Adam Graves, Jeff Beukeboom, Tom Wilson….etc, as useless goons.

  8. Rempe is not an NHL player right now. He just got extremely popular with casual fans because of the fights and hits he was throwing. In reality him being the 13th forward for the Rangers is the best choice for Laviolette moving forward.

  9. The development of another large forward – now with surprising fighting ability – may be part of this. Edstrom has been playing well in both preseason and early games.

  10. TBonet mentions ice time is critical for a players development. He’s correct, I’ve never played at a high level but when I did play in the 90s the more ice time I got the more confidence I had. Wingers like Rempe can’t hurt you by being caught out of position like our two star defensemen (Trouba and Miller). Give the kid a chance will ya. Remember the energy Nick Fotiu gave the Rangers in the 80s?

  11. this is why wnba is out viewing the nhl ,fans will tune in to be entertained by someone like rempe but the nhl dont want that,

  12. DET isn’t the team to enforce. NYR are a more skilled team versus DET but DET is a good team and will capitalize on/with players out of position

  13. He's young and he's not really that good, "yet". He may or may not make it as a regular in an NHL lineup, but he's not there yet.
