POSTCAST: Wild Hammer Sergei Bobrovsky in 5-1 Win

The Minnesota Wild picked up an impressive 5-1 win over the Florida Panthers to continue their seven game road trip. The Wild are now 3-0-1 on the trip and extend their streak to start the season having not trailed yet. The Wild got the action going in the first period on a goal by Marco Rossi (his third) off a pass from Kirill Kaprizov to make it 1-0. Marcus Johansson scored 20 seconds later to make it 2-0 on his first goal of the season. The Wild made it 3-0 in the second period on a Power Play goal from Matt Boldy, his third goal of the season. The Panthers got on the board thanks to Sam Bennett off an odd man rush feed from Carter Verhaeghe to make it 3-1, but the Wild capped the scoring with goals from Mats Zuccarello (his 4th) and Joel Eriksson Ek (his 2nd) to make it 5-1 and chase Bobrovsky after 2 periods. The Wild were 1-2 on the Power Play and did not commit a penalty. Filip Gustavsson continued his impressive start, stopping 24 of 25 shots in net. The Wild will head to Tampa to take on the Lightning on Thursday for their next game to continue the seven game road trip.

  1. A few games in, I give John Hynes a A- only reason it’s not a A+ is Fleury has and will play soon. But that may not even be his call. What do you think Seth?

  2. I would be really happy if Billy put Spurgeon on ltir use his cap for another Forward.
Spurgeon come back for playoffs Fully healthy 😂
Also known as the Vegas special

  3. That statline looked really nice (other than us getting hit so much) to see at the start of the video. Gotta love keeping up on the shots, getting one on the power play, and even better staying penalty free!

I really liked stated that the theme of second effort this year lead to the battle level we see now. What I got to listen to on the radio at work made it really sound like we never felt pushed around and the players carried themselves with a laser focus on what they wanted to do and made it a mission. They need to keep doing it clean like this.

Im also super happy Marco scored. My 3✨ are Gus, Boldy, Ek just based off the box score.

  4. I'm one of the biggest sceptics of both Hynes and Guerin so I'm very happy to be pleasantly surprised at the start of this season

  5. Each line has a confident vibe, & it seems like almost every player on the first two lines are trying to get a shot on goal every period.
It’s leading to balance, & it feels like less pressure on KK97.
Coach Hines is cleverly showcasing KK97’s scoring ability, his passion to play, & his complex brain by mixing up line combos that give him interesting opportunities.
Hoping coaching for Ohgren redirects him to become the player we see he can be. His size, speed & skills are going to be strong & he just needs some solid coaching to get him to the next level.
Great all-around start of the season!

  6. A little surprising win, team played well. Florida didn't have two stars and Bobrovsky looks very human right now. Team didn't relent once it had a lead which is far different from the team they were last year. Team needs to call-up and play Hunt, not Merrill, with Spurgeon hurt. Bogo likely has to fill in on the 2nd D line (not a good answer but it's what you have). Merrill is fill-in 7th man when Spurgeon is hurt, riding the scratch list when he's not.

  7. Nice win last night. The chat was a bit over-enthusiastic IMO only being 6 games into the season with 76 games to go, but there were definitely positives. Most notably, Gus. I still think Hunt is the better option over Merrill, who seemed to be a bit lost on the lone Florida goal. I think we all can agree Spurge to LTIR is really the only option and if that happens I sit on his cap until the season plays out a bit. No knee-jerk moves. Anyway, Tampa tomorrow. Cheers!
