Are The Bruins Planning to TRADE Jeremy Swayman?

On Monday’s edition to Zolak & Bertrand, the guys reacted to Bruins President Cam Neely, and his comments on how much the team has offered restricted free agent Jeremy Swayman. Neely hinted that the team has offered $64 million to the goaltender, and this lead the show to ask, are the Bruins planning to trade Swayman?

  1. He hasn't played more than 45 games in a season, hasn't won a Vezina or been in the top 5, hasn't won a Cup. How is he worth a top 5 NHL Goalie contract?
I'm sorry but this guy isn't Vasilevsskiy or Hellebuyck.

Last year Swayman was #7 in save percentage, #11 in GAA and he played in 44 regular games. He was excellent in the playoffs and the Bruins lost in the second round. That's it.
He and Ullmark had nearly identical stats and games played.

If $64 Million doesn't work, then let him sit out the year and try to work out a reasonable trade. Go with Korpisalo and find a younger goalie and try to develop him.
Hopefully, the Bruins D will be strong and Bussi will at least be an average back-up.

  2. It's more common to win Cups with average goalies who got hot at the right time with great teams in front of them. Hill and Kuemper of recent. Murray and Crawford were mini dynasty goalies. No one ever talks about these guys in the same breath as Roy and Brodeur. I like Sway but if they can upgrade their offence in a trade, gotta consider it.

  3. In all honesty the best move for the Bruins is to start without him, nothing to lose. Best case a goalie they have plays great and they have leverage, worst case is trading him for a good prospect

  4. Methinks, they should get rid of everyone; pay Swayman the whole pie; and let him go out there by himself. 😆

  5. It has been reported that the Bruins have 8.6 million in cap space, one other reason Sway may have laughed when Mr.Neely said 64 million reasons to accept this deal, maybe Sweeney has Not yet offered 64 million. Perhaps Mr. Neely is letting Sway know what the B's are offering. He should accept 8 by 8 , it's more than fair, considering he has proven he's as good as the other 10 million contracts. Totally right, he hasn't played even 80 percent of the games in a year. This is really over the top in his demands. I think Sweeny should start feeling out other viable trade partners for him and see how he reacts. If he gets offended ,trade him by mid season.Don' t wait until December, other GM',s will low-ball us, if we wait.

  6. Cam seems to be taking this personally. I love the guy, I mean, I was born and bred in his small hometown of Maple Ridge and he's a legend here. But that $64 million comment showed an executive losing his cool. If you want Swayman gone, fine, no problem, but that is a red hot poker to p*ss off your player.

  7. They may want to trade but who wants to for him? Most teams are at their cap, and almost all wouldn't want to meet Swayman's contract demands. So what is Swayman's trade value? Not that high at all.

  8. No and look at these people in the comments section wasting there time the Bruins should pay Swayman he the only reason we made the second round last year and could've beaten the Panthers if the team scored more and calm down people the Bruins will get this done before the Season starts I'm not believing in anything until we hear from Swayman himself plus his manager an idiot and likes to stir more drama also these guys are the last people I get my news from.

  9. Swayman has unfortunately burned bridges with the Bs and it is not going to be a happy ending for him even if he can agree in principal to a deal because the deal will have a trade clause in it and at some point he will get dealt. Best thing Swayman can do for himself is get himself dealt.

  10. Why doesn't Zo's show get streamed here like the morning show does? He's one of the only people on here I look forward to hearing from, apart from the guests.

  11. If they want to buy up 6 years of UFA status with an 8 year deal, then they have to pay up. The cap is rising quickly. 8 mil per is fair for 3-4 years. Neely knows it's a lowball offer, that's why he made the comment. Any amount of $$ in that ballpark is going to turn the average fan into a Swayman critic. Neely is a PoS and he probably just lost his no.1 goaltender because he couldn't keep his mouth shut

  12. They never offered him that. They are saying they did. Neeley and Sweeney are idiots. They screwed this up from day one. Trading Ullmark so soon. Swayman should request a trade. If another team will give him 64 mil 8×8 he should take it elsewhere and say F Boston.

  13. I've been a "Sway is the way" guy since the beginning. He's worn out his goodwill. Swayman needs to shit or get off the pot. This has gone on long enough.

  14. Yeah, we'll just trade Swayman to a team that wants to make him the highest paid goaltender in hockey history. Teams should be lining up around the block.
