Carlson’s Power, Chychrun’s Surge, and the McIlrath-Deslauriers Showdown

In a strong team effort, the Washington Capitals defeated the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1, focusing on neutralizing the Flyers’ offensive threats. Key moments included Nic Dowd’s shorthanded goal and Andrew Mangiapane’s powerful shot, which established an early lead. Despite a brief response from the Flyers in the third period, the Capitals maintained control with goals from John Carlson and Jakob Chychrun, while Connor McMichael contributed two assists. The Capitals’ defense was pivotal, limiting the Flyers to just eight shots in the final two periods, and goaltender Charlie Lindgren excelled with 17 saves. In a notable brawl, Dylan McIlrath and Nic Deslauriers showcased their toughness, earning praise from Coach Carbery for McIlrath’s hard work and integration into the team.

  1. These seasons are supposed to be about Ovechkin chasing down the record and Dubois gradually overtaking as the next superstar. Instead others are doing the job and they’re going for the Stanley cup. Curious about next season. This team looks great. I hope they can keep these guys together next season and beyond.

  2. That was a great game. The Caps are hungry for the wins and they actually look like they are having fun on the ice. The power play needs work. Philly’s pk was solid. I hope the Caps play as well as they did last night. Avoid the trap game!

  3. DITTO TO EVERYTHING YOU SAID!!! So exciting!! Let’s hope for a repeat! ❤️💙 thanks Dan!
