The New York Rangers and general manager Chris Drury have officially locked up their young star on an extremely team-friendly contract which will keep him under team control until he’s about 30 years old. This is an amazing deal for the Rangers and should be a big help to allow this team to truly compete for a Stanley Cup for years and years to come.

Less than Trouba and Mika, and going to be 31 when contract ends, yeah this is a steal…
I want to see Lafreniere switch over to play center… hes turned into a strong skater these past couple years. Hes a far more competitive player than Mika. Mika is not going to beat out barkov. Lafreniere has a better chance at it. This year is all about preparing for Florida… nobody else challenging the rangers. I don’t think Mika has the gumption to go up as 1C against Florida. For me, I haven’t really seen him compete at his highest level in 3 or 4 years… he can’t skate very well. He can barely shoot the puck anymore. All he’s good at is passing to kreider Panarin or fox on the power play. Hes a traffic cone of a 1C at this point in his career, and if he can’t wake the fuck up for this cup run, the rangers aren’t winning the cup with this core.. it’s all on Mika. He needs to compete. He needs to get nasty. Hes looked like a joke for the past 3 or 4 years to be honest.
