If Marchy can take getting concussed from a sucker punch to the jaw by scam bennet in the playoffs last year, he can take a chuck on the shoulder from his coach. If he needs to, that Leafy lady part L-EE-OT can phone home and cry to his mommy about the brutality of the Boston coaches, but for Christ's sake, don't subject us to it.

“Big deal” can be interpreted in a couple ways. Did Monty assault Marchand? No … hardly. But the bruins look terrible to start the season, this team (the lockeroom) essentially got Bruce Cassidy fired where he goes on and wins the Stanley cup in short order without them. Because he was too tough and too mean of a coach. Jim is the more players coach… softer touch, gentler approach, and now he’s at the point where he’s screaming at Brad Marchand on the bench, and showing him to gain his attention after a pathetic shift by Brad. The “big deal”, is the that the Boston Sports media and more specifically the Boston Bruins media are saying it’s not a big deal, or they havnt covered it at all. It’s a very big deal. They believed this team was a cup contender and added a top line center and top 4 D man, and they look pedestrian at best right now. JM is actively on the hot seat as he already was during that Toronto series and managed to buy himself sometime after a decent 6 game showing against the eventual SCC’s. But he’s doomed… and this “Cup Roster” (they’re not…)… will get another coach fired for underperforming and their stars not leading the way they should be.
Boston has always been a tough team. The Laughs not so much especially in the playoffs.

Why the shove on the shoulder? Because Marchand wouldn't look at him as he was being scolded. It was a "ya, I'm talking to you" push on the shoulder. There's a slew of Boston's best players playing lousy right now. Boston's MO , get a new coach.
The issue isn't how lightly he touched Marchand. The issue is disrespect. That's not how a tough coach inspires players. It was Monty having a rage attack against a player. Does Paul Maurice ever behave that way? No.
