This isn’t working…

The Anaheim Ducks shook things up with full line and defensive pair changes for the game against the New Jersey Devils—adjustments you’d expect after a bad loss, not following a solid effort against the New York Rangers. While the changes looked good on paper, they didn’t work, and by the third period, the team went back to the previous lineup. The effort was frustratingly inconsistent, with flashes of competitiveness showing up too late. Zellweger stood out as the only player bringing it for a full 60 minutes, while others like McTavish and Zegras looked off. With another game against the Islanders tomorrow, the Ducks need to find some urgency—and fast. #nhl #anaheimducks #newjerseydevils

  1. It’s been rough watching these guys play so far. Minus 4 night from Carlson wasn’t very nice to see. Even tho he has played well overall. But zegras, killorn, and Fowler have been let downs so far. Thank god for dostal lol

  2. The video was good, the game was trash. 11/23 look almost disinterested as if they have been told this is Cutter's and Leo's team. Can't see the Ducks dumping Cronin during the season, but this is not working right now. Hey I hope in a couple weeks all is well an they are playing better, as we knew this would be a tough roadtrip, but right now something stinks…

  3. They're not hungry. They're not physical. They've been told they're in a rebuild period so what's the incentive to win? It's just a bunch of young guys playing hockey trying not to get hurt. Two maybe three tough guys on a team will never ever make a winner in the NHL. Just look at their reactions to losing. It's just another day at the office and reason to make adjustments, but there's no display of shame or anger. That means there's no heart… no fight in this team.

  4. I think we lack from having any defense. We don't really have any defender that can hold their own.. let alone a top 2 defensemen. With the exception of Minty and Zellweger. But neither of them are Top 2 defensemen yet.

  5. Yeah idk what McTavish and zegras and even gudas on hits…. is he telling them to not play hard or is he thinking certain plays will work. Let them play, we have top of the line players. I want a Michigan goal. An hell an out of the box breakaway winning goal from McTavish again. Let them men do what they do

  6. We need a few bigger players as well to get infront of the net, sad to see em get pushed around but heck the other players are 6 to 8 inches taller an way bigger, we need a little more muscle than what we have, Johnston should stay as muscle with gudas

  7. If I hear the broadcasters blame the loss on back end of back to back I’m going to lose it. Every team does this. Tired of hearing it. Was honestly expecting to get routed by Rangers and a close one with NJ.

  8. I literally tweeted “what’s the point of fighting 2 minutes into the game” out when it happened and I’m still scratching my head at that one. 😭😭😭 Hoping for some vast improvement tomorrow….

  9. The Ducks looked liked they showed up with the same ferocity they showed against the Rangers and then somehow after the first goal they lost all their energy and bite. That was one of the saddest games I've watched in a while, maybe my sense of "good" hockey is warped from only watching Ducks games.

  10. i am tired…
Our captain just standing there in front of the goal…
    Plsssss get better…
I want to smile every game..

  11. Yeah, so far the system in pace is not working well at all. Coronin seems like a nice guy, but no more finishing last!

  12. maybe it will be the opposite of last season. instead of starting out hot and being bad for the rest of the season they start bad and suddenly become good??? I dont know maybe this is all just a bad dream, maybe this is punishment for that one time i wore that VGK hat to my friends birthday party when i was 18. whatever it is please god end my suffering and give me playoff hockey.

  13. Good review and spot on. Not much more I can add. Just frustrating to see the lack of hustle and compete from the start. Ducks should be flying out there. The D was passive and someone needs to remind Gudas he is the captain now. He needs to be barking at these young kids to body Up and play more physical…including himself. Need to see a little more emotion from this team. Zelly is putting out the effort at 100%+. The rest of the team needs to step up. Cutter ….where is all that goal scoring talent? He needs to be more puck hungry to score in this league. “Talk to him Goose!” Hope we get back on track or it’s another long season. Go ducks

  14. Like watching Randy Carlyle hockey again. Passive forechecking, sloppy breakouts and passing, offense non-existent, power play is $h*t. We are too talented to not be making improvements. The only bright spot has been Dostal, and it's not fair to hang him out to dry every game. Either they get it right, maybe a trade goes down, or Cronin is next. While us Duck fans are a loyal bunch, we are tired of accepting mediocrity and failure

  15. Bruce Boudreau couldn't win the big games when it counted, but I'll say this- his offensive systems worked, and everyone thrived. Back then we used to dictate the game, now we just chase it and watch it fall away

  16. Rich Clune's power play has looked awful. Pointless drop passes on the zone entry, no one crashing the net for rebounds, no one cycling the puck down low, just perimeter shots that the goalie can see from far out. We are too easy for opposing teams to play against, we beat ourselves before they do

  17. It seems like the last of a winning Ducks culture retired with Ryan Getzlaf
    Coaching is weak
    Veterans are weak
The fact that we didn't name a Captain when Getzy left says it all. #let'sgoducks😢

  18. I think the problem lays with the coach at this point. The season is still young, but I don't seem to see an improvement in individual performance or in team chemistry/performance. I feel you'd be better off with Bob Hartley, Guy Boucher or even Claude Julien
