Mailbag: How long before Flyers replace Ivan Fedotov? | PHLY Flyers Podcast

Ivan Fedotov is off to a rough start to his NHL career. After getting a taste of the NHL last spring and posting an .811 save-percentage, his real debut has not gone any better, having allowed 10 goal on 55 shots through 5 periods of play (.818 save-percentage). With Alexei Kolosov in Lehigh valley, how long does Fedotov have to figure it out before other options are considered?

  1. I don’t think Fedotov is athletic enough to play out of the net like that. Plus he is not really a young player, might be too late for him to switch up styles like that.

  2. The number of Flyers beat writers that don't pay attention to the Phantoms is utterly astonishing.

  3. They need play him a lot to see what they got. They need to trade away some guys this year and not be picky about what they get in return. They need to hit home runs in next years draft and the subsequent free agent market . They need a a lot!

  4. That back in the net thing is a consequence of playing on the larger ice surface. They always say that's the toughest hurdle for European goalies to get over.

  5. Errson is always down on his knees; he doesn't need goal pads….they shoot everything over his shoulder.

  6. Won't happen anytime soon. They will work with him to use his size as a strength, not a liability. Like 'The Big Cat' in Tampa. Kosolov isn't exactly lighting it up on the Phantoms either. These Russian goalies need time to adjust in NHL because the European style of play is so different. Trading for another journeyman like Peterson will just clog up the works again financially.
