We are too old. Our window is rapidly closing.
Great money, but hate having two defensive D signed for term until thru there mid – late 30s.
You have very striking eyes Steve
is nobody concerned that all of a Sudden the Leafs have an older blue line? Tanev is 34 signed until he is 40. Ekmon-Larson is 33 signed until he is 37 , and McCabe is signed until he is 36? Morgan Rielly turns 31 this season. The top 4 d-men are all in their 30's
I think McCabe is a solid Defensemen I liked when he was on the Hawks. You definitely need a guy like that on the team for your top 4
Another losing signing.
Rielly ISN'T a concern? A 4mil defenceman who can't play defence making over 3 mil more a year than he's worth??…
Awesome singing dangle would love both of your books
He works hard and has his heart in the right place. Pay the man.
Later in this contract is a free trip to Robidos island.
Fantastic signing
terrible deal, im convinced the guy has a brain issue with some of the sht he does, like that interference right after leafs score last game.
Five years from now on SFR
Sharks Fan Reaction
Seems like they couldn’t really develop their defenceman if this is the route they’re taking. Trading away all the young guys and signing all the old guys. Should be fun to see how this plays out. Top 4 d are locked in
I love that they locked him in at a very reasonable cap hit. GLG
Lol standard leafs contract with the no trade clause, it's like they never learn.
Dude is gonna have no nose when he leaves
Toronto will be an incredibly fast team in 3 years
🤔
I honestly thought you were 34
I can't stand him
It was a massive overpay
Lunacy. Just wait to year three with the age of the Leafs' defence. The real pain is coming.
I was hoping for $4m x 5, but honestly thought he'd end up with $6m x 5 knowing how the Leafs contracts go, so $4.5m x 5 was a pleasant surprise
Good deal.Jake is a good D-man.Solid and is there for you when it counts.
Great videos but y are we looking at kamps contract he can be literally traded to 21 other teams thats very dif then a no trade to any team
Something I wonder is why we just love to keep resigning players? Like we really like running it back and staying comfortable with the norm
Great signing! I firmly believe McCabe could've got $5.5M to $6M on another team. But, he took some bonuses and decided to stay on a playoff team.
Eau Claire, WI REPRESENT
Money money falling out the sky…and no one’s wondering why…
A 5 million cap hit in year 6 assuming the world doesn't shut down again and the cap goes up significantly, probably will be fairly insignificant.
No MBA Steve?
Hey Steve! Hatty to boot 👢 for Former Captain John Tavares and Hatty for Kyle Connor! Leafs Winnnnn! 💪👌 another LFR inbound 👀😌😆🤷♂️
Think most Leaf fans guessed Jake terms ahead of time. Guessing Marner at 11.5-12 and Tavares at 7-8 M.
Tree loves him some early 30’s veterans….I don’t love this deal. I saw Tree do this in CGY.
McCabe is fine but their are tons of just fine D men available every year via trade or free agency. What this does is further cement this lineup into not changing and takes away a potential roster spot from an up and coming D man in the future.
On the positive side this cap hit is not crazy and when he will be 35/36 the Leafs will be starting the next rebuild anyway.
Taken in isolation there isn't any problem with this contract for Jake McCabe. Fair cap hit and doesn't pay him until he's egregiously old.
That being said with the age, salary and no movement/trade cluases awarded to their D they have basically zero flexibility to pivot or remake the blue line if the team underperforms. I'm not sure that the D group is good enough to justify the lack of flexibility.
As a fellow 36 year old… I pulled my groin in a warmup. Having a hard time agreeing with the “not old” sentiment 😂
Good deal, I like McCabe 🎉
Jake McCabe signing now, before a cap that could be as high as 92M USD next year is amazing. His AAV is 4.7M, and in my eyes? That's a phenomenal deal that was made by Tree. I love this. McCabe gets his praise, but there's still a part of me that feels he's still a little overlooked in his importance for this team. 4.7?!? ALL DAY, EVERYDAY!! Beautiful signing, I'm absolutely loving this.. and IF the cap goes to 92M? Jesus, what a deal, considering he's probably our 2nd or at the very lowest our 3rd most important D-man? This is great, GLG!!
The deferral timeline ties to the next rebuild
