Well, this one sure does sting. I see some people suggesting that Laffy spend some time in the AHL, and I’m starting to agree. He’s not the same player he was in the playoffs last season, and despite him having the same points as Kakko, Kakko looks like a far more complete player. Defense was pretty shit today, not gonna lie. Surprised that they didn’t tie the game up a lot sooner than the third, and yeah Goodrow…oofa. Frustrating to be sure but I’ll take that otl point.

    See you guys on Tuesday.

I’m not too worried about us. We’ve been playing well lately and should make the playoffs. NJ is insanely fast and I’d be pretty worried getting them in the first round. I’m sure if we all knew we’d be getting at least a point today, not many would have been that angry – the fashion it was lost in hurt. Not just how the scoring went but by who. The devils hit home with Hughes. He’s franchise no doubt. I like Kakko and don’t think Laf is horrendous either but it sucks to see how pale they are in comparison to Hughes

  3. InsideIngenuity

Obviously it sucks they lost, especially the way they did. But anyone else calm about this? This team has only gotten better, I am not worried about them.

I just don’t understand how scouts didn’t realize that Laf’s severe lack of speed would be a huge problem in the NHL. That’s not like a little flaw. It’s probably the most important skill. It’s just bizarre.

  5. BarmyDevonian

Gauthier has 6 goals now in a 4th line role, he’s hustling like crazy, making things happen every shift, and I’ve even noticed him making plays defensively.

Would it hurt to give him another protracted chance in the top 9? The worst that can happen is it doesn’t work like it didn’t before. FFS, he’s played better than Hunt did last year when he earned his promotion.

The team’s turned things around, but GG’s TOI distribution continues to not feel merit based whatsoever.

Sucks they lost the game but they still got a point out of it. Blowing a 3rd period lead in the regular season will happen every now and then

  7. PhillyJ739

Hughes is really an all-world, electrifying talent. He is literally the lifeblood of this Devils team and I’m jealous

  8. Krispyford

This one hurts but I’ll take a point after that fiasco. This team is good and will bounce back. Plus a point is a point when the standings are as tight as they are.

  9. Global-Act-5281

I don’t think I have ever seen past Rangers teams give up so many leads. It is nauseating tbh.

  10. gibson531

We lost a game we were winning, you know what time it is in the post game tread…. Time to fire the coach and gm, trade Laf, sell the team. What else am i missing?

On pace for 102 points. The devil’s are on the verge of collapsing. Lost 8 in a row at home. They wanted it more and their star player did more than ours. Suck it up, take the point and move on. LGR!

  11. Fuck the one point. We had this and the coach blew it, period.

  12. aviator147

Anecdotal of course but I just feel like whenever we play a matinee it’s usually a loss/stinker of a game. Fuck matinees.

  13. crabapplesteam

Ah fuck – I thought this game was tonight… I see we got a loser point out of it? How was the game? Anything interesting happen? Did we deserve to win/lose?

    Fuck the Devils!

  14. legend1124

Chytil accidentally tips a pick into his net and he gets benched. Goodrow leads a rush the other way and he gets rewarded for it. Where is the consistency? It’s so obvious gallant hates the kids

  15. Key-Tip-7521

This one kind of stings. Damn. 2 points in their hands, and they let slip right through their fingers. Ruing chances that they should have finished. Leaving Igor out to dry because, get ready for it, SLOPPYNESS WITH THE PUCK. How sloppy was this team most of the game in their own zone. Really sloppy. AWFUL. JUST AWFUL. This team still needs to know when you have a lead, FORECHECK IN THE OPPONENTS ZONE when you have the lead! Create chances. Nope. The Rangers don’t do it. Taking penalties also letting them back into the game. Can’t do it. Shouldnt do it going forward. Gauthier scored a good goal. But it still sucks that they couldn’t finish the job tonight. DAMN. Whatever, the Rangers got the point. Still important to get. But it sucks it could have been two points. Onto Minnesota.

  16. Boysenberry-Dull

Going in to the 3rd with a lead this team sits back. And watched the other team pour it on. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. The system is trash and the defensive break out system is garbage

  17. Grouchy-Power-806

Does anyone recall if panarin chytil krav have had any time? If so, were they successful?

I just don’t think tro fits with bread. Maybe try him with laf?

  18. GoRangers5

Devils deserved the win, they were the better team today, lost an opportunity to steal one.

  19. Wesley__Willis

This game feels a lot worse than the net one (1) point the Devils end up with.

Gallant’s one weird trick when it counts is to overuse “his guys” in clutch situations – at the expense of cohesive lines and player development. He puts these beloved veteran grinders out there ostensibly to prevent goals against but that just boils down to coaching not to lose – and it’s both cowardly and ineffective because it concedes the attack. I recognize the team is in a playoff spot at the moment but man does it feel like they are where they are despite their coach.

  20. cptcow44

The way these two teams have been playing against each other this year would make for an incredible playoff series.

  21. jkman61494

I guess I’ll get downvotes but I’d much rather Laf get important minutes and have a chance to watch film and see where he fucks to try and fix it versus 0 goal and 0 hope Blais getting minutes.

  22. yankeefan033

One thing is for sure…Jack Hughes is a PROBLEM

  23. Other than Trochek knocking down Hughes in the neutral zone, does anyone else remember any of the Rangers using their bodies to slow him down? It seems like he has lots of room out there.

  24. xXDireLegendXx

Real talk – and no this is not solely based on the last two games – I think I might prefer Carolina or even Pittsburgh in the first round over NJD. Their speed seems to be a problem for us

  25. flowstuff

i am not gallants biggest fan but the posts about him are so hysterical. he blew the game!!! while shifting laffy who you all want him to develop so badly. well
that’s what it looks like. laffy made the most embarrassing pass in ot and then got run over. how is that on gallant? i want to see laffy develop but need flash everyone…. some of that is actually on laffy.

  26. jaypeedee1025

i swear this subs expect them to go 82-0 and sweep to the cup they expect our players to be superstars the second they are drafted at 17-18 the team is top 3 in the hardest division in league in the playoffs they are still separating from the non playoff teams every game . one last question i really wanna know what this sub would complain about if this team ever (when)it wins a cup it will have to shutdown people won’t be able to hate their own team every game
