Sorry him and Olofosson are terrible 5 on 5 . Very little scoring and poor on the forecheck. Trade either one for a veteran D man like Gavikov Columbus, Gudas Florida or Dumba Minnesota.
Or even better as someone else said trade him to minnesota for some much needed grit in Jordan Greenway.

I am starting to feel like a lot of our prospects are passing him. We have more coming through the system
Right now the team is doing very well with him, we can hope for a playoff, he is part of that young core of new team culture mentality. Who would replace him at center now and make the team better ? What message would it send to the other young players ? If there is a trade with him it would have to be in a situation where they are out of the playoffs at trade deadline. I trust Adams for that.

Our bottom three are WAAAAY worse in plus minus:
Olafsson -10
Mittsy -11
Bryson -14
It could be addition by subtraction to dump these three soft as a baby's bottom players.
We have enough players like him. Need more grit.
Mitts and Olofsson…. ,Don and GMKA see something we're not privy to… The team is not Tage, Skins, Dahls, Dylan, Tuch… You cannot have a 23 Stars on a team… There is a supporting cast that you cannot attribute numbers to… You cannot pay 23 stars…. You have to have the Rudys…. I'm grateful it's Terry, Kim, GMKA and Don and not us… We'd never see a LST or a VLT in Buffalo, if it was up to us !!!
Casey needs to go big time……….His output is far to low for the skill set that he has, he disappears most nights.
At this point I say move him. I've given up on expecting him to step up. I'm not panicking about not moving him though. He can stay a 3rd or 4th liner for us.
You do see some high IQ plays from Mittelstadt. His points production is pretty good considering. I agree with if we trade Mitts, he could be a big scorer for another team. He is only 24 which is nice. I like the kid, its just some nights you never know what mitts we will see. Olofsson is the one that is a 1 sided player. The team is scoring so for now keeping him put I'm happy with. His cap is very low compared to Olofsson. At half the cap space Olofsson is paid, do you think he is only half the player? I really think he is much better than Olofsson. He does play more ice than Olofsson does. Moving him as a 2M player he would get picked up so fast. I think we should give him this shot at (hopefully) a full 82 game season. Thats my 2 cents.
I feel bad for Casey especially since he was predicted to be the best player last year but just hasn't found his game. It also doesn't help that he has been stuck for most of the year on a line with Victor Olofsson who doesn't generate anything but rather just waits for the puck to be passed to him. Amazing shot but beyond that I don't like his style of play for this team and I think he should be moved first.
I feel the same way Wayne. As Tom Petty said, " The waiting is the hardest part " Maybe if Johnson and or Portillo together with Mitts would fetch a great return. I like Casey though but then again I liked Kruger (not his coaching, just thought he's a likeable guy) Who knows. I bet if we traded casey he'll blossom and come back to haunt us like so many ex Sabres do.
For me it’s easy what to do with Mittelstadt. We’ve got young prospects in the pipeline that will replace him and succeed. Kulich/Savoie come to mind.

If you're on the 3rd line, and not scoring much, you need to be a physical presence on the ice. it's not in Mittlestadt's dna…
I say move him because we have so much offense and need more of a shutdown type of center.
Mitts need more strength.
There are job openings on this Sabres club. The Sabres need a couple of grinders who hit and a real good defensive forward who can score a bit. Not to mention that the Sabres also need some serious grit. Mitts is a decent player when he keeps his motor and feet moving. I would suggest that either the Buffalo coaches convert him to one of the above job openings, if possible, or trade him.
He might become a better player somewhere else however I don’t see him becoming a better player here. If he can’t help us he has to go. Doesn’t matter what he becomes somewhere else.
Wayne I agree with you, despite his poor performance the team and management is absolutely in love with this kid. As much as fans are frustrated with his poor play, I absolutely believe that the Sabres are in his corner and have no intentions of moving him.
The one thing about Casey is he seems to be a big game player. Some players need atmosphere to get in the zone. Mabe he has a hard time getting into games when the moments not there. Hes shown improvement in the physical game as well
If kevyn adams calls up philly we might be able to get a first because of how bad their management is.
