  1. The OEL trade will go down as one of the worst moves made by the Canucks, but Drance is right – even had the Canucks not made the trade, they would almost certainly screw up the pick and chose someone who would end up being a career AHLer… I was high on Kent Johnson and was hoping he would be on the board by the time the Canucks but of course he was snatched up by Columbus…

  2. Canucks Fans: Thank God we fired Benning! There's no way it could get any worse.
    Rutherford: Hold my Beer.

  3. Pre-salary cap, that OEL/Garland trade for the picks and our dead cap weight would have made a lot of sense. Before 2004, those assets alone would have been worth quite a bit more than what the Canucks paid, because some of the richer teams if they were in contention would have been glad to pay fair market value for those 2 guys. The Canucks might have been able to get a 1st for OEL alone from a team looking for added veteran depth on the blue line. Unfortunately, because of the salary cap, franchises that can actually afford to ice a competitive team get screwed so that franchises that really shouldn't exist can stay above water. COVID and the flat cap have made things even more difficult, because if you're competitive, you're probably up against the cap already. If the Cap didn't exist, the Canucks would be able to fix their roster problems a lot easier. Just another way Gary Bettman has ruined the NHL that I fell in love with as a kid in 1990. All the special effects, glowing pucks and HD zoom angles in the world can't make up for the damage the league has sustained in the last 30 years.

  4. Remember when the worst thing about this team was Loui Eriksson's contract? Those seem like the good old days now.

  5. Drance is such a clown… a sad clown. Somebody in the new management group must have snubbed him something fierce early on hurt his precious feelings as he's had an axe to grind with them all season. He was just whining about the team mailing it in against the Islanders… Drance mails in the same whining every hit! He hasn't come up with an original take in 4 years… talk about the pot and the kettle.

  6. If you think Gillis was a bad GM, then you think Benning is a bad GM, then you think Allvin is a bad GM maybe it's not the GM
