  1. Tage was also in the Ryan O'Reilly trade from years back. While yes St. Louis did win the Cup in 2019 and O'Reilly was a massive part of that, this trade is starting to materialize a bit for Buffalo these days. I hope Tage keeps this up. This has all the makings of a win win trade for both sides. Yes, I am talking about a way different topic here, but I just thought it was interesting how Buffalo's side in the O'Reilly trade took a few years to materialize production, and that Tage Thompson is gonna be the reason why it isnt gonna be as bad of a transaction.

  2. Buffalo wasnt a fun team to watch back in the day until hasek showed up i mean the accident to clint malarchuck with a skate in the throat was nerve racking

  3. Tage always had a crazy wicked shot and some amazing moves for being so tall.

Now, it seems like every time he takes a wrister, it goes in. Or he dangles and scores a gorgeous goal

    Ohā€¦..and Eichel is a cancer

  4. Even though I know that it's The Part Of The Video, I really Don't Compare The Two. I think that Everything Has Worked Out Best For Both Eichel & Thompson. I can understand Why Eichel Wanted The Surgery And Why Buffalo Is Reaping Rewards, As Did St. Louis, From The O'Reilly (Who's A Stanley Cup Winner) Trade, In Which Thompson Ended Up On Buffalo. I Do See Your Point, But, I Think That Ultimately Tage Thompson Would've Been The Star He Is Whether Or Not Jack Eichel Had Remained With The Buffalo Sabres (Tuch & Krebs Were A Nice Addition, But, Eichel Would've Likely Returned To Form In Buffalo). Therefore, I don't think that The Tuch & Krebs Trade Impacted Either Way, Since Eichel Is Doing Great For The Vegas Golden Knights, As They Are For Buffalo.

  5. Here is my take – I do believe that Eichel had to go for Thompson to flourish. Unfortunate, but a fact. Eichel is not McDavid, no matter how much we Sabres fans wished initially. Eichel has more in common with Reinhart – a really good supporting player, which is why he will do better in Vegas.
I also believe Tage has a better mindset than Jack. He is a draft class behind, but he also suffered through crap seasons in Buffalo along side Jack but kept the faith so to speak.
Another thing is that Tuch came back in the trade, and Krebs and the pick. But Tuch was key and here is why: if you have ever seen the movie ā€œWaitingā€ (Justin Long, Ryan Reynolds) the dishwasher talks about the arrival of the Luis Guzman character and how he change the dynamic of the restaurant. He brought a lightness, and fun while, as the executive chef, accountability and gave agency to the staff. Tuch is that guy. Everyone speaks of how he came into the team excited to be there and already knew some of the guys. His positivity was infectious. Combine that with guys of character who were already there, like Okposo and Cozens and Dahlin, then Adams and Granato, and it just swung the culture the other way. I think Tuch actually makes Okposo a better captain. They both have embraced Buffalo as their home, Thompson has too.
I think that Eichelā€™s heart was never here – you can take the boy out of Boston, but you cannot take the Boston out of the boy. I am a bit surprised he didnā€™t get traded thereā€¦ hmmmm what do you suppose that means?

  6. How did he set him up for success? He left is all he did. Eichel leaving was sadly the best thing to happen to buffalo. Great player but a big locker room killer

  7. Jack was a horrible captain. The team has a much better mindset now, but it is Don Granado that has made this team what it is. He should be the coach of the year

  8. Maybe I'm wrong but isn't Tuck on pace for a better season then Jack. I'd rather have Tuck straight up over Jack.

  9. Tage is some much more humble than Eichel is or ever will be. That makes it even better. Eichel always had a pompus mindset. DONā€™T bring that demeanor to Buffalo.

  10. He just was never, and never going to be a "buffalo guy" witn his attitude. Look at those who are/were loved so much here in Buffalo. Miller, Vanek, Drury, peters, kaleta, Josh Allen, Diggs, Thompson, Tuch, Johnny T(bandits), Dhane Smith, Josh byrne….. were a small market and tight communitry for sports where we sometimes run into these guys at stores and restaurants in our day to day. It's a big thing for those in buffalo to fit in and want to be here.

  11. As a Sabres fan, how could you not love the Jack Eichel trade? Not only did Buffalo get a cheaper player that produces just as much if not more than Jack in Alex Tuch who also just seems like a better human being/leader but they also got young Peyton Krebs who has lots of potential and Vegas number 1 draft pick. People were so upset with GM Kevin Adams for not moving Eichel immediately but his patience clearly payed off.
