+/- can be kinda irrelevant in the respect of shots against (amongst many other variables) arguably being more important defensively. That said, our resident western Canadian has pleased the eye test this season. Certainly has been better than our Captain in some (if not all) respects thus far.

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned that he has only taken 2 minor penalties in 82 games and both were last season. Such an amazing stat for a young defenseman.
His 2 majors were when he got jumped after clean hits and he had to whoop some ass while defending himself.

Trouba is not a Ranger if we had Fox and Schneider a few years ago. Not hating on Troubs but that cap hit would look a whole lot nicer split between Buchnevich and somewhere else

And he’s added some sneaky offense to his game. This season, Schneider is on pace for double-digit goals.

3 months ago when the Rangers traded Lundkqvist, I commented on Schneider and the following was posted to me. If this person’s handle pops up here praising him now, then I’ll share it with you.
“He couldn’t play on the NHL level but Schneider could? I have never been able to understand how this idea that Schneider played great took root. His advanced stats are ghastly. He was not a good defender, either. He was nailed to the bench in the third period of virtually every playoff game for a reason. Nothing Braden Schneider showed last season was terribly impressive other than the occasional big hit.”
Yeah…he can’t play. Chew on that awhile.

Kid has been solid, from what I’ve seen.
I’m a big fan of Jimmy Vesey returning to the Rangers. it’s like.. he knows the 3rd/4th line roles to fill, and how to be awesome at it. and it’s just lighting up all these kids.

Love this kid. Super impressive that he got called up, played important minutes in a deep playoff run, and has never looked back. Hope he’s here for 10+ years
Let’s take a moment to realize how well he’s doing especially for how young he is. Most 21 year old defenseman are not in the NHL especially when they are a late first round pick. For reference in the 2020 draft of all 198 players drafted after Schneider there is 1 player who has over half as many NHL games played than Schneider. That player is Chinakhov who was an overager. He’s 9th in the draft for games played. As a defenseman selected in the bottom half of the 1st round.
