Seattle’s isn’t the worst, but feels like a missed opportunity to include more Kraken-like features like tentacles or a beak as some others have mentioned. A kraken is a really cool mascot/team idea, but the S is just kind of meh. Arizona’s is both a nod to the art style and culture of the area, which I think many NHL logos lack, and it also makes it obvious it’s about hockey. Which I think is needed considering the brand recognition struggle a hockey team in the desert would go through

But serious, two great logos. Seattle did a great job accomplishing the city’s first letter, sports team colour and keeps the kraken unknown. But the AZ logo is one of the best art logos in sports.

The kraken logo I subtle and is easily identifiable as the logo of a sports team. The yotes logo, while unique and culturally specific, it doesn’t look like logo of a sports team, I could see it being embroidered on a collared shirt, but that’s about it

In a bubble on their own, AZ has the more interesting design, but it looks too small on their jerseys, whereas the Kraken S really pops on both home and away uniforms.
Seattle’s also looks like a baseball logo and feels like a cool blend of long-standing letter based logos like Boston’s and Montreal’s while splashing it with modernity (i.e. the tentacle and eye). For that reason I’m glad the S is the Kraken’s “og” logo that we can fall back on as a classic design whenever even if we experiment with other looks, like the Canucks do with the Stick in Rink C
