Watch the leafs get swept first round
1st of all, anyone who Plays for the Leafs get little respect, mainly because they haven't won a cup in 55 years, or even gotten close. When Leaf fans were crying for a stud d-man ,the Leafs signed JT (no shade on JT) and Leaf fans felt this would unbalance the team .Then with covid and the flat cap, the imbalance was going to stay for awhile, and JT is unfairly but not unexpectedly getting some of that flak.
Tavares is the little thing king. To average eye, they doubt but if you know the game, watch it closely — Tavares is a beast.

Tavares is an Ice hockey Player. When other Teamates aren't covering Their zones Properly, it's hard on the Players that Know Where to be and They have to do the Other guys Work, like Nylanders and Mathews don't know where to be.
Toronto Plays the Same Failed Power Play since They got Sundin and They are never going to Change. Shooting from the Center Blue Line on the Power Play Nullifies Your Power Play and Toronto does it 99.9% of the Time.
You Build a Soccer Wall between the Shooter and the Goal that causes Injuries and the League Wont Stop.

Tavares is an amazing player, he is just overpaid. If a player is going to take up such a large percentage of your cap space, he better be one of the best players in the league. $8.5M/year would be fair value for him, not $11M+. People don’t seem to understand the concept of value.
JT is the Little Thing King. Never stops working on the time aspects of the game, even if it isn't shown on the board. That pass to Matthews was absolutely filthy. Straight bullying.
He's not a flashy player, not a fast skater, wont wow you with skill but he does the hard gritty work. WIns the draws, captains's the team, scores key goals, epic bumper player on the PP. Love the guy.
He had been great always. The bubble and the early knee to the face not his fault obviously. The guy in a pre pandemic world eats his contract. People also forget that. We would have another 11m player had the cap rises with all the haters 🥳
