[Prashanth Iyer] Among defensemen who have played at least 390 mins (Walman’s TOI this year), Jake Walman is #1 in expected goals above replacement per 60 (xGAR/60)

Jake Walman is also #1 in Griddys above replacement (GaR)

Probably important to note that he has 6 points on the season. I just don’t want everyone to be too upset if he makes a mistake because he’s done well in fancy stats to this point. Keep your expectations for him realistic.

Hronek is also top 10! This defense is taking the first steps to being something now

I feel like “expected goals above replacement per 60” with an exact amount of TOI is unrealistically specific

He’s been very fun to watch. Can’t believe I had never even heard of the guy until this year

Considering he has 4 goals and 6 points, doesn’t that mean he is also scoring far less than expected?
If he’s averaging 1 xGAR/60 and has played 390 minutes, he should have 6.5 more goals than the average dman with the same deployment. Instead, he has 4 *total* goals.
This just tells me he’s good at getting opportunities but doesn’t have the skill to finish.

Who gives a shit he’s a defensive liability…
