Yes and always has been for the kraken, people just like to point fingers at him when we lose(who knows why)

”When we lose, it is my fault for not preparing well. When we win, it is the players. Doing the hard work to get it done.”

Scheme wise, he isn’t particularly special. Super fundamental without any real polarization. You’ve also got a ton of depth scoring right now on top of talent acquisitions in Tolvy, burkie, and bjorkie being solid contributors. It’s not really scheme that’s opening guys up for those chances either. Loads of high effort plays and good decisions on ice. The boys are playing well.
Regular season doesn’t really matter either beyond getting into the playoffs. It’s a very different style of hockey in the playoffs. He has yet to demonstrate competency there. Should things follow the course they’ve been recently, this will be his first opportunity as a Kraken to show that he is a good coach.
Until then I’d just enjoy the ride. Tons of dudes are having fun and over performing right now. A lot of things are coming up kraken and that is never a bad deal for a fan.

I think effort and culture are established by a combination of player characteristics (front office, scouting) and coaching. Hard to get selfish players to play cohesively, and also hard to get get mediocre players to level up. Ron Francis has found players who have a strong work ethic, on and off the ice, and who are willing to make the sacrifices to win. Hakstol deserves credit for building a high energy style of play. Forechecking effectively requires a high degree of physical commitment, but also strategic concept. Last year, the team didn’t quite get it, but you could see the effort. Losing Tanev early was a huge blow. Players who weren’t valued elsewhere are thriving here (Sprong, Tolvanen, McCann, others), and they are playing fast defensively. That commitment to high intensity effort nightly, is a testament to good player management and coaching by the staff. I’m not saying Hakstol is the be all and end all, but I think he is and has been fantastic with this team. This team reminds me a lot of the Tampa teams leading to the first championships. Same fast skating and relentlessness, but I think this team has more grit. Hakstol has a longer shelf life than Torts, as well.

He’s pushing all the right buttons this year. The players are executing his system to perfection. He said the right things after their struggles in December and in particular after the 7-2 loss to Edmonton.
It’s also an organizational commitment with Francis and their analytics team finding the right guys to fit the scheme and plug holes.

I didn’t like our play style last season. Dump and chase is boring to watch. It was my first season as a hockey fan, jumping on the Kraken bus, and folks told me that was what he was known for. (True or not I didn’t know)
A lot of people also said dump and chase was what teams did when they didn’t have a lot of talent to play other schemes. Looking at this squad last year, makes sense. Watching Matty, Bjorkstrand, and Burakovsky skate their talent is apparent. I saw the same with Ebs last year as I think he was just like most skilled skater/player. Compared to watching Donato for instance. I love Donato but he doesn’t skate like Matty. Looks like a baby deer on ice comparatively.
I always thought it was weird people said he ruined young players since he had so much success at the collegiate level. You’d figure a guy like that would be good at dealing with younger guys.
Overall, I’ve always liked his presence. Seems like a straightforward guy. Coaches always get the blame, and the angriest fans have the loudest voices.

No. The GM is good, the players are gelling and the kraken are adding quality pieces. Hakstol isn’t losing any games and he certainly isn’t winning any. He’s a non-factor, completely forgettable in every way.
