    The main points:

    * Larkin’s repeat performance – Larkin is retaining his production from last season which is a big part of the team’s success this year and should set himself up for a nice contract. Max says safe bet is contract gets handled after season.

    * Uncertainty in the surrounding core – Injuries, off ice issues, and age are catching up to Detroit’s core. Does Vrana return to form with Detroit? Does Bertuzzi get traded, re-signed, both? Does it matter with the next point?

    * Berggren, Veleno, Rasmussen, and the rise of Detroit’s youth

    * Staggeringly similar underlying numbers to 2021-22

We know that the team isn’t good and desperately needs an elite talent

Serious question … what are the odds we have Larkin when we’re chasing the cup ? I mean I know we chase it every year at least that’s the hope, but when Biz Nasty talked contract on espn, I know I wasn’t the only one(maybe I was) that caught vibes that Dylan was feeling uncertain. I truly hope that’s not the case. The man needs to be paid. Without the hometown discount. Or maybe Biz caught him off guard and he didn’t want to elaborate. 🤷🏼‍♂️

The Vrana/Bertuzzi question is the most immediate right now. Vrana seems to be on his way out of the league by all appearances, which is unfortunate. Bertuzzi on the other hand is likely to be more expensive than he’s worth to the Wings and he’ll be 30 by the time our window opens. I won’t be surprised at all if Yzerman let’s him walk (which will drive fans crazy I know).
