  1. Don hit the nail on the head about how they could have at least waited a day or two, to do this when Gino just passed shows a massive disconnect between the team and the city IMO. It’s like the people running the team don’t even know basic facts about their own organization. We have about a half dozen fucking general managers on this team, what the fuck are they doing all day? Chickenshit organization.

The press conference was scheduled before the news broke. JR mentioned Gino off the top and there will be a big ceremony for Gino before the game on Wednesday. Of all the issues with this team, this ain’t one to worry about.

Oh my god they 10000000000% talked to Mike Babcock

  4. conradosm

well people complained about benning and we still have same problems

The docs on the press conference sounded like they had some talking points to address and make sure they aired Ie org has done “a great job” bosses are “awesome” etc. Cmon can smell that shot a mile away. (esp the first dr) I call bullshit.

“Things get spicy” = another contrived, made-up controversy to jack-up views. Exhibit A for the toxicity of Vancouver sports media.

Team is a fucking shitshow from the top down.

It’s ownership that’s really steering the Canucks ship. Aquilini won’t allow a strip it to the studs rebuild, ever. This team will never win a championship until there is new ownership. Rutherford like Benning is just a puppet for Aquilini.

Hmm, speaking to high profile names…coaches who have been out of work for a while…Mike Babcock? Joel Quenneville? Alain Vigneault?

All those coaches fit the owners and hockey operations team’s vision of “win now.”

Bacbock and JQ would be controversial…Vigneault…well, that’s more nostalgia than anything, but look at his jobs. It’s been with teams mostly that are ready to “win now.”
