  1. I’ve been having a pretty rough few days lately. A lot of emotionally draining stuff. In past years, that would’ve meant doing everything in my power not to learn how badly the Devils were being beaten every night, because it would just bum me out more. I’m really grateful that hockey gets to be a source of joy this year. Obviously, it’s not great when one’s mental health is tied to a hockey team, but if it has to be tied to a hockey team, thank god that team has Jack Hughes on it, because that dude is for real.

    My other thoughts:
    – the line shuffling drives me crazy and probably contributes to the too many men calls. I really wish Lindy would find other ways to make adjustments, because the team seems to get really out of sync when they’re playing with someone new every period.
    – McLeod seems to quietly be blossoming into an actual NHL caliber player. Not just a faceoff guy, but someone who can actually drive some play and occasionally make things happen. He’s a long way from greatness, but it’s been nice to see him get a little more confident in his game and just start to look like someone you wouldn’t mind having used a first rounder on.
    – If I had a time machine, I’d go forward and learn about everything bad that’s ever going to happen to VItek, then come back and protect him from it. I don’t ever want that man not to have a reason to smile. He is a treasure.
    – I think the flaws that have been evident in Dougie’s game will become much less noticeable once Marino comes back. Everyone can go back to doing what they’re best at, and Dougie is damn good on the offensive end. I likewise think Bastien will stop a lot of the complaints about Wood’s play. They complement each other.
    – This Jack guy is pretty good. Him being locked down long term at a reasonable hit is masterful stuff from Fitz.

Jack Hughes is now tied for 6th in the National Hockey League with bonafide goal scorers Jason Robertson and Mikko Rantanen, each having scored 29 goals thus far.

Oh and Jack has one game in hand on JRob (mikko has two on jack)

  3. Not a good game, but a great win! VV is really awesome, delivering when needed. We’re playing meaningful games, folks!

Kraken will be another great test! LGD!

  4. BlueBeagle8

Great win, now let’s never speak of it again.

McLeod played great yesterday and was 80% in the face off circle. I think he even won every face off in OT which was clutch. But we definitely need to find ways to score in that OT. I counted about 3 open net chances that we couldn’t bury. It didn’t matter in the end thankfully

You’re never gonna convince me the boys weren’t hungover yesterday. Probably had one too many beers watching football on Sunday. Jack couldn’t handle a puck until the 3rd period, normal passes weren’t connecting for anyone, low energy all around

Good teams find ways to win games though. I’ll take it

An ugly win is still a win.

How many times does Bratt deke a goalie out of his jock and still not score?

Noticed so many turnovers or bad decisions being made when we had the puck behind the goal line. A better team would’ve buried us for a few more goals off those turnovers.

Vitek is a god damn warrior.

I ordered the last Jack Hughes Reverse Retro jersey as a birthday gift to myself.

Great move by Ruff to put Tatar in there for the shootout. He was pissed after that tussle and super focused and was not going to miss that

  9. When Jack had the puck with 16 seconds to go, I knew he was going to be the one to drive it. He’s there and wants the pressure of the last shot, dude is a true star.

And now we won in every way we can! Getting a shootout win is great, and Tuna again showing his value to those who bag on him. 6th overall in +/-. Gravy with another goal puts him first in the league at 31 +/-
