I feel like Gudbranson is being taken out of context a bit he was never supposed to be a top four guy. He got there bc of the early injuries we had to our top four and that’s not he’s natural spot hence his bad statistics. He was signed to be a bottom pair guy to give us an edge and not let other teams bully us. I bet the fo new we were overpaying but what could you when last year the team was getting pushed around Jarmo had to do something he couldn’t afford to lose the team so early when clearly they thought were going to be competitive

Does this mean the rebuild is intended to last at least as long as his contract?

The thing about gudbranson with this contract is he was also supposed to be something similar to a player coach in the locker room which is was stated how valuable he was behind the scenes for the flames. If you ever listen to him he’s extremely smart when it comes to the game it’s just his athleticism is lacking. Remember he’s the one who got in trouble calling out larsen and his practice routines. I am sure he’s eventually going to end up in the front office here which is also probably why they gave him the extra year just to ensure he came to Columbus even if the last year is bought out
