I don't think it's fair to absorb this comment as if it's the only thing – or type of thing – he has said about the kid. Perhaps it's the only type of thing you've heard him say in the _media_, but that isn't the same thing.
Sutter has been pretty laxed all year. The team is playing alittle better and getting confidence so I think he's trying to pull them together. Usually that's giving them something to focus on hating. He's done it his whole coaching career.
Lucic on the 2nd line with supposedly the Flames best player and a premier playmaker. Maybe for a game or 2 but in the last 5, Looch has one assist on an empty net goal. Hubie's not going either. Pelletier had one shift while Huberdeau was still on the ice and they almost scored. Vets are great….until they're not anymore. Too many expensive guys past their prime on this team. Sutter eventually does that to every team he's coached….BTW Johnny, you're getting better and better at this. Keep going dude !

Itās the old-school adversary coaching tactic of slamming a young player to āmake them madā so to push them to āprove the coach wrongā. I donāt mind some of this when kept in the locker room, but itās out of line when coaches employ this publicly. Thereās a fine line between trying to fire up your young player and just straight being a bully. He crossed it here. š

Sutter isn't going to blow sunshine up his players ass for a good game or two. Maybe he thinks this player everyone is pouring over has a lot more to give and isn't as competitive as he can be. Maybe as the coach he sees more. Sutter knows the game and his players. IMHO

Dude, why are you so mad? 1st of all, HE DOES HAVE A LONG WAY TO GO. He played well for his Debut but he's a long way from being a steady top line player and I'm sure you are aware that a lot more into being a player, not just on the ice but team dynamics, fitness, nutrition, attitude, etc.. and I'm sure Coach has a better perspective of where his head is at as well as where he is as an overall package and admitting that is a bad thing like he should lie and pump him up. Saying he's a good player but he's young he's still got a long way to go to get to the level we need him to be and we know he can get to is a fair factually accurate statement and it's important to point out while you are so quick to inflate the kid, you have ZERO idea of what may have gone on before, during, after the game between him and coaching staff, what may have been asked of him, his understanding of the system. Third, the fact that you think DS MUST remember the number of a 21-year-old kid who has barely cracked the roster on his first night is laughable. And even if you did think for some asinine reason that DS is required to know every player's number by heart the moment they step in front of him it still doesn't change the fact that he seems to be thinking out loud and is simply checking the stats one last time before answering a question! There was nothing disrespectful about anything in the entire comment. I do like your content dude but you seriously missed the mark on this one
