What did you think of Jack Rathbone's debut last night? And what is his potential?
I think in hindsight, knowing the Canucks aren't going to make the playoffs, I wish some of the young guys like Rathbone and Julovei got more playing time. I hate the idea of heading into next season with such a young inexperienced defense, especially if Edler retires. I guess Schmidt and Myers will have to pick up the slack. But I like what I saw of Rathbone and I think his future is bright. Thanks, Clay!
i'm sure he was told to play a simple game and not getting out of position. i think he will play like hughes. it would be good as you see those 3 guys on the left side. hopefully they can find the right rd's to go with each of them. lind looks like a keeper. i like him with bo and pearson. do you think they sign petey's brother and where will he play? if he played with his brother would that line be tough enough. if gadj can make the jump next year, we could look good up front. i like motte and highmore on the 4th line. hope they keep miller at center to mentor pods.
The way Edler has been playing it might be time to give him a night or 2 or 4 off and let the young guys play in all situations.
Rathbone seemed solid but I remember he got knocked to the ice and was flaying a bit after that. I think that was the welcome to the nhl moment, might not be repeated. Potential is there

I have a good feeling that Jack Rathbone will be good on D fence next year. He played well last night.
Agreed about the juke he made which led to a shot in that it shows his readiness. However, I think given his size (unless he's the next Torey Krug) we should groom Juolevi and Schmidt as a possible shutdown duo to take on bigger teams and have Rathbone beat up on weaker defenders on the 3rd pair and run the 2nd PP. That probably means no "2nd pair" on paper role for JR but he can still be impactful
Rathbone played really Good position need the youngest core next season rebuild the Defense of core , can't wait for Rafferty and jet woo next Groups
He is definitely a great skater.
Hopefully Rathbone turns out to be like an Alex Edler down the road.
Really liked his skating ability and his post game communication.
