Holy shit, negative 5.2 surplus value for Hamonic?? That might be the worst in the league

Edit: I was so focused on that I didn’t even notice the -3.5 for Chabot. Ouch

Edit 2: Jack Johnson is -8.1M

I find it difficult to take these things seriously until they list Brannstrom as a $1M or less player. He’s a bottom pair defenseman on this defense. No offensive skill to speak of and as average as any other player defensively.

I love the concept though. I just wish it made more sense with what we see in games.

If we ever pay Brannstrom $2M/year, I’ll become a Leafs fan

Chabot card is a bit ridiculous, he’s basically 90th percentile in every regard, but his defense is like the worst in the league (which it obviously isn’t, I think we can all agree we’ve been dissapointed by his offense- NOT defense). He’s definitely worth more than that

Last time these were posted, I’m pretty sure Chabot was around his contract value. Not a surplus but not in the negatives either.

Now look at it. Playing well below his contract, and that matches the eye test lately.

I’m dumb. Why do Hamonic and Holden’s surplus value not match the difference between their salary and their market value?

Chabot looks fucking brutal, the guy looked legit while under Boucher, DJ comes in and slowly but surely every season Chabot gets worse and worse till now he looks like a shell of his former self and can’t even make good plays half the time. This was obvious in year 2 of DJ but everyone wanted to say we were rebuilding and that DJ was loved by the guys.

Took me a second to realize that Holden’s -$1.1M wasn’t -SLIM
