Biggest highs: 1. Thompson ended his slump with a 3 point night, including a goal 2. Krebs was flying out there (minus that dumb penalty he took at the end) 3. UPL was clutch in the 3rd when he needed to be (similar to Andy last night)
Things to improve: 1. Getting out of the D zone. My goodness, it shouldn’t be that hard in 5v5 to get to the neutral zone 2. As per usual, transitioning to the O zone. Dump and chase only works ~50% of the time at best, and the rest are just giving it away 3. Somebody stick the fuck up for Krebs getting hit from behind. It really took 30-something year old Okposo to send even a small message?

I know it’s a time to be fixating on the standings and rooting for this team or that team to crush the guys ahead of us but aside from all that, let’s just take a moment to really soak in the fact that we’re conducting a legitimate, productive, ever improving rebuild. FINALLY. Our guys are getting better and management is EXTENDING, not trading. Our guys aren’t sitting on the bench looking like someone sucked the fun out of the room. We’re not benching a flashy shooter because he’s more fun than our star. We have no star. We have no alpha. WE (the team) are the alpha. Our guys play with heart,they cheer each other on, they’re grabbing the iPad and going over plays together between shifts. This team hasn’t looked/played/felt like this in over a decade. We took an 8 game skid and at the end were more relieved it was only 8 games than we were upset that it happened at all. And we talk about that skid now and how it led to the playoffs being riigghhttt there, instead of how it sent us flying toward the basement. The single losses hurt like hell now because we have a team we have come to expect to WIN (most of us – I see you, doomers). It’s a beautiful time to be a Sabres fan. I’m glad they’re trying to get it right. 💙💛🖤❤️

I am going to say something a bit bold in terms of projection…Lightning are only 8 points ahead. Effectively need 4 more wins over 35/36 games than them over the final stretch and wouldn’t even need the wild card. Not what I would call impossible.
