Like there was something else going on… BESIDES the actual face mask… Which – if you look at the NFL’s statement it released on its website at the time – seems all the more realistic.
Check out this excerpt from the memo: “A study conducted by the University of New Hampshire for the NFL states that the added weight of the masks negatively affects the structure of the helmet, can cause neck fatigue that could lead to a more head-down posture during contact and can provide a false sense of security during tackling.”

I've heard, that the defensive players with those facemasks we're prone to head and neck injuries because it apparently was "too heavy!". 🤷
Seems like it would cut down on face mask penalties which would protect the player. Why ban them?
Is it really for style or is it for safety because if something is for safety but there’s a way to make it look “cool” then we should all be for it!!!
These guys have a lot of head trauma after their career! So if these customized helmets help them be safer…then let em do it!!!!

If the NFL cared about the safety and health of it's athletes, the NFL wouldn't exist.
if they weren't banned, think of all the custom helmets players would wear. We would have competition of who has the better helmet design

They look mean and intimidating. They are striving for a softer and gentler football.
Coaches hate them because they can’t see in your eyes while they are screaming in your face. They want to know they are intimidating you.
Those little holes could get a finger caught in the. You could lose a finger.
this is one of the few times where EA is often seen as a good guy in this video
