But Mike paid Rosa Parks’ rent so it’s cool that his business completely exploited the Cass Corridor and held the recently largest municipality in the US to declare bankruptcy hostage for taxpayer dollars. This wasn’t a blunder, it was just another lie.
I’m a lifelong Wings fan but this pisses me off. I lived in the city from 2009-2019 and worked at one of the first “new” businesses to open in the area before The District was announced, and watching this all go down was pretty gross.

That is a bummer. I am a Milwaukee-based wings fan and that top picture looks like our Deer District by the Fiserv Forum (Bucks). It is such a cool space and seems to be attracting more and more new development every year.

Does anyone know if there are any laws or policies in place where if you take tax money or promise something like District Detroit you are held accountable otherwise the money/land reverts to the city so they can see the plans through?
I’m not sure if this is just an LCA thing or something that happens with lots of new arenas and stadiums that promise development in the nearby areas, but it’s sad to see happen for sure.

Agreed. They routinely bait and switch to get public funding for their pet projects. That being said, if it wasn’t for them I’m not sure any of these projects would’ve been completed in Detroit.
