Rumors Abound that the New York Islanders Aren't Done Making Moves Before the NHL Trade Deadline



The New York Islanders made a splash when they acquired Bo Horvat last week but according to NHL insider Kevin Weekes, Lou Lamoriello probably isn’t done trying to improve this roster. We discuss the latest rumors, who the Isles may target and what they have to offer back.

    HI Gil. Yes you are right. Isles are about out of ammo to make another worthy deal. It would almost have to be player for player. And with wahlstrom probably out for season that is one less trade chip. I'd love kane but unlikely even tho kane is having a bad year and hawks probably wont get the bounty they will ask for ufa kane and i hear his buddy with rags panarin wants him on nyr. Tarasenko could still be possible. Having an injury year, 31, the blues probably not going to get a ransom for vt the ufa to be. Maybe mayfield (St. L native) and second, conditional pick if re-signed could do it. Rare for two ufa's to be moved for each other. And one thing that helps isles is all the other east contenders looking to make a move have bad prospect pools or lack picks/cap space to make a deal. nj and sabres even wings could be tdl players with their cap room/prospects. If isles make another deal another top sixer must be acquired or a d man that can move the puck and add some pop. I hope lou doesn't waste assets on yet another third/bottom liner kidding himself they can play on the top lines. Got to make a proper trade. And now rumours are meier to jets.
    And on the prospect front there are still three other prospects for nyi that could get some interest. All in the ohl-RW maggio leads ohl in g, pts, G lennox, and D george. Maggio and lennox are already 20 OAgers and ahl eligible after their ohl seasons end so they are closer to nhl ready with an ahl stint. Probably in the fall. All three lost one year of development due to covid lost '20-'21 season. George is a big defenseman who can skate. His d still needs work. He is still a few years away and coached by scumbag/isle villian dale hunter who coached horvat at london and hunter sends more guys to nhl than any other jr. coach so george is getting top development. Depending on team and what they want maybe they could be of interest in a trade. Some teams want prospects that are close to nhl ready.     Come on Gil iskhakov is already better than holstrom. He skates like barzy and is very offensively skilled. Dufour actually skates better than I thought after watching him so far this season in Bridgeport. Bolduc is already better than mayfield. He’s probably better than Romanov and aho too. Lol He has a big shot and is 6’4” 220lb monster. Doesn’t matter because senile Lou is showcasing him too 24:33 just like raty.

    I doubt Lou could nab even damaged Tarasenko without finishing off our picks and prospect pool. He will probably try for a Clutter replacement and a depth forward. What he may give frightens me. We are already in for a very painful rebuild in the coming years.

    Hey Gil. Horvat is pretty evasive when asked about extension talks. Any chance Lou already signed Bo and wants to keep it a secret? Lou does some strange things.

    We do have a player that many teams want – Dobson. My fear is that Lou will trade him for Tarasenko and a defenseman.

    Lou loserRillo is destroying the islanders. This team isn’t making the playoffs. Even if they do, they aren’t winning a cup. It’s a waste of time to follow this team as long as loserRillo is in charge.

    Gil, scoring more goals and improving our PP will offset the few goals we give up do to Aho or Wortherspoon and Bolduc playing bottom pair minutes.

    Tarasanko is possibly the only player we can maybe acquire with what we have left, and the best player for what we can give up for. Not saying that's what I want, I didn't want Horvat but here we are.
