Ice Haus is the Jackets practice rink
Loved when you casually flew over one of the largest football stadiums in America (Ohio Stadium) home of The Ohio State Buckeyes and were like there’s a stadium😂
Hey Neil do you think you will fly over my hometown team Fort Wayne komets one day ?
Ice Haus is the team’s practice facility – the only team in the NHL to have their practice facility at their arena.
The arena has only been known as Nationwide Arena. The AEP Tower is a four-story party tower in the arena. When you took the flyover, it was during Covid, so there weren’t any posters or hockey banners. Normally, there are posters and banners all around the arena.
As for the other stadium you pointed out, that’s Ohio Stadium, home of the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Neil, anytime you want to come here for a Jackets game, I’d be happy if you sat with us.

That landing if you can call it that was harendus O.M.G that was diabolical.
But at the end of the day it's only a simulator not the real thing.
Keep Safe Neil.
And Keep The Skys safe dont let Neil fly for real LMAO.
the poster is of the half a Blue Jackets player and the injured is the sponsor of "Ohio Health" and the "Ice Haus" it's actually soundly pronounced "Ice House"; the Blue Jackets training faclilty. Unlike the NHL teams practice arenas are located in other cities such as the Ducks' practice arena, "FivePoint Arena", is in Irvine, the Ice Haus is special because its behind Nationwide Arena
To help with landing, you are way too low and way to fast on approach. So when you go to flair since you are going 200 knots the plane just climbs. There should be PAPI or VASI lights next to the runway that will tell you if you are on the right glide path. You can do a quick Google and find pictures that explain it better than I can in a comment.
I've always wanted to go to a CBJ game, mainly just for the cannon
I'm curious to see if you'll be able to tell the difference between Minneapolis and St Paul.
That's actually a beauty of an arena
Cut the speed and try to not flare up as much
You almost ate that parking lot on the second fly by. You got me hooked on these vids ! Love watching the landings most
Somewhat dated, but let me be your tour guide. The add on the back of the building was for 'Ohio Health". Ohio health would essentially be the sister hospitals Grant (located downtown) and Riverside (located in the northwest corner of the city). The "Ice Haus" ("haus" pronounced "house" is the German word for house) is the Blue Jackets practice facility. There are windows outside where you can stand and watch the Jackets practice. Also, local high school and amateur teams play there as well. Yes, that is a Tim Horton's on the SW corner of the building. The parking lot on the north side of the building is where employees (including players) park their cars. I was allowed to park there once when I did my arena tour when I decided to purchase my full season ticket. The front of the building isn't animated very well as the entrance doesn't really look like that. That's where I always enter the building. When you flew around to the back side of the building to look at the poster again, the large building right in back of the arena is Nationwide Insurance national headquarters. Columbus is the 14th largest city in the United States and largest city in Ohio. Columbus is larger than Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, Boston, Detroit, Atlanta and Miami. The Columbus metro area at 2.15 million ranks is 32nd in the USA. Cincinnati is 30th (2.25 million) and Cleveland 34th (2.10 million). I should do a video of the front and back entrances and post them on YouTube to help give you a better idea before the season ends. One more thing the AEP Tower is sponsored by American Electric Power. I believe they have areas they have sponsored up high where people can have parties and watch the games, but I'm not 100% sure as I've never sat up that high. My seat is in section 103 behind the Blue jackets bench.
The Ice Haus is there practice rink. Columbus high school teams play there. Also high school states are at Nationwide.
nasher
nice stadium
do you have the Stealth Bomber on the sim?
I been to Columbus a few times beautiful city. But I went to Nationwide Arena for the first time a month ago for Blue Jackets/ Penguins game had alot of fun. Nationwide Arena very nice arena.
Next time fly into the stadium
This imagery is from the summer since they normally have huge banners of players over the entrances. I’m pretty sure the ad you saw was for Ohio Health which was their home helmet sponsor last year. Nationwide is a super underrated arena and has a lot of really awesome features.
5:37 that is actually a Dentists office
Did you have the plane take off from Rickenbacker airport or Port Columbus/John Glenn Intl?
“That looks like a bit of a football field down there.” -Neil, looking at one of the 3 largest football stadiums in America
