My question is “when”? At each player’s peak, or today? If it’s today, 2015 crushes them, in large part because so many of the 2003 guys are retired.
Yeah, the 2003 defense is much better, but the 2015s are still developing. Defensemen peak from 27 to 30 years old and they’re 25.

I dont mean to be that guy, and its kind of unpopular opinion, but at their peaks, 2003 draft class defense would dominate against 2015 draft class, especially with those goaltenders and huge huge shutdown defenseman with good shot as well,if it was playoff I am fairly certain 2003 would sweep 2015 … especially with so many two way forwards as well, I think 2003 would be dominating strategically as well, the only problem I could see is speed of 2015 forwards. 4:1 for 2003 to win the best draft class.

Dion Phaneuf was pretty good (2003), I’d probably take him over Coburn to make 2003 even better.

Depends what round. First round, 2015, since speed and skill still matter. Second round toss-up. Conference or Stanley Cup then 2003. By those rounds the legs are too heavy. Speed and skill can give way to physicality and size, which 2003 has more of.

Depends on when they play. Imagine both in their primes, but officiating circa 2007? 2003 team wins hands down – just way too physical. Now imagine reffing circa 2021? 2015 skates circles around them bc there’s just too much space for that class’s speed

Well…since they are 12 years younger and still playing i will go with 2015 in 3. The NHL cancela game 4 when they realize how bad the 2003 class looks in 2023
