GAME RECAP: Penguins at Ducks (02.10.23) | Malkin Reaches 1,200 Career Points

After an impressive overtime victory against Colorado at PPG Paints Arena, the Pittsburgh Penguins hit the road to California to take on the Anaheim Ducks in their first of three games against the Golden State teams. The Penguins came out hot, netting three goals (Joseph, Kapanen, and Carter) in the first period of play to take a 3-1 lead into intermission. P.O Joseph found the back of the net once again in the second, giving him his first career multi-goal game in the NHL. Pittsburgh continued their scoring in the third, getting a pair of goals from Bryan Rust and Jake Guentzel. Evgeni Malkin’s assist on Rust’s goal got him to the 1,200 career point milestone, a feat accomplished by just 50 players in NHL history. The Ducks would try to rally back late in the third but the Penguins would hold them off for a 6-3 victory. Pittsburgh recorded 59 shots in the contest, which is a franchise record for a road game.

  1. Proud of P.O for his two goals tonight. It is nice to see some uncommon faces on the scoreboard for this season like Joseph, Kapanen, Carter. I was satisfied with most of DeSmith's game besides the last few minutes, and definitely felt we had most if not all the momentum in this game. Lets continue this road trip and make it into something to orbit us into the playoffs.

  2. What a game for DeSmith, Those late goals, I think the team got tired. Gotta play 60 Minutes. Big Win nun the less. LGP!!! on to LA!🖤💛

  3. A game they should win but the effort was there by all. Pens looked very sharp at times…even the defense. No quit in this team. Ride this momentum into Los Angeles! Go Pens Go!!

  4. Nice to see some scoring from Carter, Joseph, Kapanen, Rust, and Guentzel. Great job tonight boys. Keep going.

  5. 6 goals, 59 shots, 😮, that's the Penguins I expected to see finally.
    2 in a row let's keep it going.👏.
Great to see they finally started to make a move, time to move up a few spots and cruise into the playoffs.
    Stay healthy please.
Geno looks like a new player this year. Just over 1 pt per game in career so far.
A couple of more cups before Crosby hangs him up would be awesome.

  6. As soon as Rust scores he immediately points to Geno and the puck, he knew the importance of that point for Malkin, now that's a great teammate! 🐧🏒🥅LET'S GO PENS!!!

  7. Joseph doing some hard work in the offensive zone. Zucker's goal… when you work as hard as he does, you get a few lucky bounces.

  8. Hey pens had a great penalty kill the other day. 1 second in to the penalty kill… goal 😂😂. Shut up!!
