  1. I got busy as Kane got his goal then had to double take the final score. What a dismal game! No effort, no style, no grace, no nothing!

  2. . 🙂 SO let me get this straight Dave…. the fight materialized too late for your liking, yet they scored the next 2 goals and trailed just 3-2 before the 3rd period??….. how do you arrive at that?

  3. I have been a staunch supporter and loath to criticize the team, but I have to say that Bouchard is the laziest, most unaware player on the team. It would not hurt my feelings if he were to be packaged off. Grrrrrrr!

  4. that ballard documentary was cool, but it didn't mention the alleged trade that ballard proposed where he would trade the leafs for the oilers. i mean it wasn't consummated, but thank you bill hunter.

  5. who is the most under achieving and most over paid player on the oilers??? #25. trade him for two quality players and enjoy playing against him. keep your draft picks and throw in #2

  6. "the bounds of reality" sounds like something out of lovecraft: it's horrifying, but it's true — we're not gonna win the the cup

  7. paul coffey is the only guy who can stop the lovecraftian monstrosity with his quick maneuvers and dangles, sadly he settled into a consulting job

  8. Barry and Kulak fumble around with the puck – Montreal goal. Ryan has two opportunities to clear the puck, but doesn’t – Montreal goal. First two Oiler power plays try be super cute with the puck when it’s obvious that Montreal knows how to play against that style – first two power plays fail to score. Oilers’ first PP goal scored by going to the net. Oilers’ second goal scored by Kane throwing the puck at the net. … But the Oilers continue to try to finesse the puck instead of getting shots on net and going to the net. … Fifth Montreal goal – Oilers’ stacked first line doesn’t back check fast enough (again). Sixth Montreal goal – Oilers’ PP tries to be cute with the puck and Montreal scores. … When you play a hard-working team that plays with desperation, you have to outwork them, not out-finesse them.

  9. Stats:

  10. If there is any truth to the Karlsson rumor, it is very, very intriguing. During his time here in Detroit, Ken Holland was not shy about taking a big swing, especially in the pre-cap era. It is much harder now, of course, especially with the Oilers in LITR. If a swing is to be taken, this definitely feels like the time. I would have no problem sending two first round picks got the Sharks. But to make the money work — "money in, money out" — Tyson Barrie and/or Evan Bouchard and either Kaiser Yamamoto or Jesse Puljujärvi plus another prospect would also have to be moved in a deal for this uber-talented defenseman. The Sharks would also need to retain 50% of Karlsson's $11.5m salary the rest of this season and the next two seasons of the remaining four years of his contract to possibly make it work. It seems unrealistic to me that San Jose would agree to retain money on all four years of the contract. My ask would also include a swap of second round picks for 2023. McDavid, Draisaitl, and Karlsson would command a huge percentage of the team's cap, but you win with talent and Karlsson is as elite at his position as the two superstars he would be joining in Edmonton.

  11. Bouchard was terrible. He just is to weak in his own zone. Oilers don’t need Karlsson. They need intelligent physical defencemen who can move the puck. Maybe trade Nurse, open up some cap room and add that guy from Arizona and one maybe two other defencemen.

  12. Oilers are missing that killer instinct. All season long when they come to a significant milestone to advance their standing, they always fail. I would be surprised if they finish higher than third in the division.

  13. Nobody talks about how it took Karlsson months to start playing well on his last new team.

  14. There are different ways to lose games ,the Oilers were completely outcoached yesterday , full stop. Didnt come to chat superbowl sorry guys but have at er , Im more worried about bottom-feeders who now have the "book" on the Oilers, same book everyone else now has ,and it clearly works if you are determined . Anyone want to talk about why we were Outcoached last night or is the Party-line going to be that its all about the Players again? We going to ignore the Pink Elephant in the room right up till the Playoffs? Again?

  15. Didn’t show up today, hopefully they can get back to their structure and simple play again. This road trip was a stinker!

  16. Trade Barrie, Bouchard and Shore for Karlsson….Nurse & Shore would be ideal but would Nurse waive his NTC?

  17. Bouchard softer then tropical butter in a heat wave. That player wouldn't have lasted long on a half decent team anytime before the 2000's. I agree that Woody should have called a time out pretty early. Massive winds of Stench blew hard in this game and stank it right up. A total write off. Oilers decided to coast and see what would happen. Same old lesson again Lol.

  18. What the ever loving hell is the problem with the Oilers ? They were completely schooled by Montreal. This jeckel and Hyde show has got to stop!

  19. If we're not going to trade Bouchard, Can the coaches atleast make him watch from the press box for a couple games?. While they're at it make him watch a montage of plays of his mistakes so he understand what he's doing wrong, and what he needs to do!…I dont understand how he hasnt been benched yet; he thinks hes playing good! 🙄

  20. Seems that when they go to the "fun cities" they crap the bed!
Maybe the core group has a lack of maturity that is needed to win in this league, it's getting way too frustrating.
No one in our most talented group seems to want to backcheck with any urgency.
Their play or lack of is mental not physical. Million dollar talents- ten cent brains.

  21. Bruce, I have to call you out!
The New York Jets win with Joe Namath was in Super Bowl III. Super Bowl I and II were victories by Bart Starr and the Vince Lombardi's Green Bay Packers.

  22. Curse of Nurse strikes again! At least I’ve noticed in the last month or so he has lessened his one knee pylon move so that’s good. But dammit man your allowed to clear the crease every once in awhile…

  23. Scheduled loss. We're 9-1-2 in the last 12. If you would say we'll go 9-1-2 over the next 12, I'd take it in a heartbeat. I wouldn't trade 3 firsts for an injury prone Dman in his 30's. We're the #1 scoring team in the NHL, I'm not sure more offence is what we need.

  24. Team definitely has a tendency to underperform in front of Skinner, maybe Drai needs a rest something is clearly off, he is a hot mess right now!

  25. i'm so tired of watching the Oilers loosing to the lower ranking teams. They watch the other team get the puck. Looked like most of our passes got picked off, and blind passes. If they really want to have run for the Cup, why this? Do they think it's going to be a easy win?

  26. Somebody said it would be Barrie and a 2023 2nd round draft pick …a 2024 first round draft pick …don’t know if that was all they want tho!

  27. EK65 would be extremely fun to see with the Oilers. It could create some incredible plays. Even more obvious is that it would probably make the oilers have 3,5 goals against average…

  28. I'm starting to think these guys only watch Edmonton play. There is a big league out there.

  29. LEon and Connor are the top two scorers in the NHL with a combined +/- of +4 @176 combined points …… I never get carried away with plus minus as a stat BUT that is alarming…. the best part of this team is also its largest liability…..

  30. The problem with the analysis is you don't pick up emotion/intensity. The oil had 0/10, Mtl had 8/10. If you were around for the bakers dozen of darkness…. The oil could never handle an aggressive forecheck. I would argue they still really struggle.
Personally I am sick and tired of watching former oilers sink their former team. As per your comments….Bouchard is on an ELC….. stop comparing him to a $10M vet. I see Bouchard in the same light as Justin Schultz. OMG…. Karlsson would be a major mistake… equivalent to or even worse than Lucic. We are in the last year of buyout/LTIR hell… This is not the year to go all in with a bad bet.
