Last nights Ottawa Senators vs New York Islanders game saw the debut of Kevin Mandolese who came in and made NHL history becoming the first goaltender to win his debut and face a whopping 46 shots. He faced the most shots in his debut while winning than any other in NHL history with exception to only 1. Ken Wregget made 48 saves and won in his NHL debut back in 1983 for the Toronto Maple Leafs. This was a fun game with plenty of back and forth opportunities, overtime and a shootout so enjoy as I cover todays NHL hockey highlight recap!

wait if mandolese is the 4th string who was the backup goalie for him 🤣
Outstanding debut!!!
Laurent Brossoit was a beauty in Winnipeg.. Arguably a better backup than the aging (All-star) David Rittich. I'm surprised he hasn't blown up in the league yet. VERY solid performer.
Great story! Too bad Sen’s management will find a way to screw it up.
Good to see him and Sogard finally get starts in the nhl. I feel like they’ve been in the farm system forever!
Not to pick but I think your pronouncing Mandolese incorrectly
Love to see it. Loved seeing him play for my Screaming Eagles back in Cape Breton. Drake Batherson too!
Go Sens!!❤️
Mandolese nuts
The story writes its self. as an isles fan ive seen this way to many times
I can't believe more people don't know about this but one of the best strategies against us is literally bringing in some random goalie. I swear it works every time.
Awesome story for Mando though, well done
B.. F…… D…
I'm an Islander fan, but this guy won the game…great talent.
When I read "40 years", I reflexively thought you were referring to the 1950's or 60's. I was sadly brought back to reality when I then saw you were talking about Ken Wregget.
Also, 70 is a great number for a goalie.
Nobody minds the damn net in ice-hockey. They're goalies, goaltenders, goalkeepers etc.
I'm out here tearing up wtf
That is amazing. Great job!
These are the stories I like hearing about
FORMER EAGLE. CAPE BRETON STILL LOVES HIM
Why are my eyes steaming
Good that that guy. Glad to see it.
When I seen the caption of 'the NHL hasn't seen this in 40 years' , ….. I thought you were referring to DECENT and FAIR Officiating! ….. oh well! Guess not ….🤷♂🤦♂😢
my OPINION 🦂
So when you say hasn't happened in 40 years, you really mean 9. Wregget in 83 still had more saves. Mando beat 2014s second place record and moved himself into second. Clickbait-ish title
When I saw the title I thought it was that Ottawa actually won a game 😂

This shit gives me the biggest cheesiest smile. I love this. ❤
Anyone else having Hamburgler flashbacks?
Good on ya mate!
Vasilevskiy shaking in his skates over Mandolese nuts.
It was good to see Mando make his nhl debut! Working with the bsens it was fun to watch him play when he had the chance.
I won 27 bucks off of the senator’s winning
I think they found a new back up
Just one of the many, many reasons hockey is my absolute favorite sport. Thank you for making!
Here’s hoping he’s more than a Ken Wregget footnote
Straight up deadly! 🤘 👊 💥
….I think there's an unspoken code amongst coaches, franchises, and players NOT TO EMBARRESS the league or this goalie!!! Cmon' the world's elite hockey players with skill sets to match…. The backups, back ups, back up is the starting goaltender… it be like team canada playing Italy in the Olympics 13-1…. let this joe everybody win the game and everybody feels good NHL looks good…. that's class!
I've kind of been here since the start of your Channel. I enjoy the commentary.
Making 40 saves in a game… This is the way.
Way to go Keven!!
This is really cool but I dont think Sens will make the playoffs they are missing too many key guys this season with injuries. Their number 1 center has been out all season and Jake Sanderson.. Dont think they ever have a healthy line up and too many key guys keep getting injured.. It would be a cool story if they did make it but I doubt it.
I have seen this guy in action playing for the Belleville Senators. He wasn’t too bad in the game I saw vs Toronto Marlies. Glad he got his big chance in the big leagues! Great job in the win, Kevin. Congrats man.
Hate both of these teams. Hope buddy has a good career tho
It was a shootout win, it's not really appropriate to go back and compare it to actual wins from before the shootout was introduced.
Beautiful vid! Easiest sub decision ever
