Once folks started throwing Octopuses (Octopi?) onto the ice in Detroit, a BUNCH of fans started the trend for their teams with different meat market items. There's a wikipedia page on it– NHL tried to ban it. What I'm wondering is, did that dude have a fish on him for two whole periods? Disgusting!
