Leafs are obviously cap strapped. Why in HOLY HELL would they kick Holl out at 2 mill and on an expiring contract (and who has been playing well over the last 2-3 months) to bring in an overpaid Myers? WHY? Myers is, at best, a bottom pairing dman at this point. Even at 3 mill it just doesn't make sense. Come on, do better.

If Dubas can be patient he might be able to get a Garnet Hathaway, Dimitry Orlov type set of players without giving up a 1st, Knies or Minten. Hathaway isn't a top 6 winger but he would definitely improve the bottom 6. Orlov can move the puck like Sandin buy he hits like Roman Polak, and he is also good against the rush, net front and down low. Hathaway is a big aggressive forechecker who is better than anything the Leafs have on the 4th line. He is also used a lot on the PK. Just saw him shut down the Bruins in Boston. Both Orlov and Hathaway were impressive defensively.

Leafs gm should be fired
Within a group of D men – who are playing well as a group – Myers can play well. He is big but not mean. Of course he has played for a long time – doesn’t move the puck quickly. Think Leaf GM should assess improvements – based on the Leaf D men as a group. Leaf 3 rd pairing is relatively small/talented & Reilly is talented/older. Good they are at least assessing Leaf’s main weakness – D men.

I DO NOT want the leafs to trade for Myers. If that's the guy they're looking at, why don't they just try to get Jake McCabe? Neither one of them imo are going to push you over the edge and help you go on a deep run, but atleast McCabe is more reliable and comes with a cheaper cap hit, especially if the hawks retain. Tyler Myers is a guy that you would have to get assets from Vancouver just for taking his contact on, plus half retained and potentially a third team to retain salary.

They also need to address the bottom 6, in tonight's game Kampf and Engvall are the only NHL players. Come playoff time that bottom 6 will get destroyed by TB. Also Kerfoot shouldn't be taking any d-zone faceoffs he's brutal.

Seems like the only viable trade for a good dman (with some term) while also addressing that missing spark in the middle 6
