While East Teams Beef Up, the West Remains Quiet. Could the Avalanche Break the Silence?

Whoever comes out of the East is going to be one heck of a challenge for whoever comes out of the West. It seems almost daily there are moves being made by Eastern Conference teams, while the West is making next to no deals.

Could the Colorado Avalanche be the team that shakes things up? The issues of not having a lot of trade chips remain. But if we have learned one thing over the years it is to not discount what Joe Sakic, and now Chris MacFarland, can accomplish.

We take a look at some of the names out there and who would be fits for the Avs, and who wouldn’t be.

We also talk about the most hated player on the Colorado Avalanche…..Evan Rodrigues???

  1. Ghost would be amazing on the second pp unit, he'd be a cheap, great addition to a d core that all can skate well

  2. Ghost is likely to require a second and B Level Prospect that can swing his 9 games this year and begin his ELC next year. His numbers, especially on THAT team, are nothing to shake a stick at.

  3. Yeah, how was ERod chosen as the most hated? I love Nate but would have accepted him based on his intensity as interpreted by everyone else, but ERod? Ridiculous.

  4. Dumba is a distraction for any Team he's on, he's hated by MN Fanbase . Dallas where he can BLM it up with Tyler Seguin👍

  5. Kane is really looking good lately. He is who we should go all in for. I assume if offered he would accept Colorado too. LTIR Johnson then we can afford him at half. Am I missing something?

  6. It would be unwise to spend $4.5M on Gotisbehere and pass on getting an experienced 2C instead. They have enough on d to replace EJ, so I would be very surprised if they would make a bug trade like that for a d man. Of course, exchanging him with Girard, now that would be a different story. 😀 Listening to you guys, defense seems to be the urgent one for the Avs, IT IS NOT!! They need a 2c! No Domi but a different Blackhawk, Lafferty.

  7. E-Rod was actually a really dislikable player in college when he was at Boston University and had a really dirty play in the Frozen Four. Since he's been in the NHL, he's been pretty tame and shouldn't be the guy for the Avs.

It has to be Landy. The Landy hate bandwagon has died down over the last few years and has been non-existent this year for obvious reasons.

  8. Bringing back Soderberg and Nemeth was a bad decision. One of only a few I can think of in the last few years for trade deadline decisions. I'm looking forward to seeing what CMac does if anything, but we don't have a lot to trade with so maybe getting Landy and Helm back will be it?!

Those lists are stupid. Like the best looking coach in the NHL! Click bait if nothing else.

  9. The Domi idea surprised me but I can dig it a lot. What are the chances they could score a rental or something?

  10. Like Trade, Toews, need magic with cap, but not sure if the Avs can waste picks on s rental, that will likely sees 10-14 a game and no foot speed. My sleeper pick, Kuraly, 3 yrs at $2.5, meaning if Compher might price out Colorado, but Kurly and Compher will make a good Cup run this yrs. Kurly may need a mid prospect and 3rd round. Columbus has a few interest players looking for raises, I can see them part with guy. Large body at center and has upside role that doesn't fit in Columbus
